4x4 engagementbadgervine 10-07-2005, 03:19 PM i have a 96 blazer 4x4 automatic with no owners manual could someone tell me the proper way to engage and dis engage the 4 wheel drive it has push button on dash gonna be snowing here in michigan before to long. thank you DaveLance 10-07-2005, 03:54 PM To go into 4 hi, just push the 4 hi button. It doesn't matter if you are in drive or park, moving or stopped. Do the same to go back into 2 hi. The manual says that you can do it at any speed, but I don't recommend hitting the 4 hi button while going 60 down the highway. To go into 4 low, you have to be stopped (or moving less than 5 mph, in which case you might as well be stopped) and in neutral. Once 4 low engages you can shift back into drive or reverse. If either button flashes at you without shifting into gear, then there is a potential problem and a search on the forum will provide you with additional info.
