Anti-Freeze Reservoir Light

The anti-freeze reservoir light is on and it is not low of anti-freeze. This is the second time this light has came on. The first time it was under warranty and the dealer fixed it. This time they want $150 just for the part, which they say is the whole reservoir. Does anybody know of a way to just replace the sensor in the tank or a way to disable this sensor and turn off the dashboard light?

All you need to do is disconnect the wires at the reservoir. It's pretty easy to do as long as you have small hands.

yup... sensor in tank shorts... only comes with the tank.
if you disconnect the sensor it won't light... but that's your risk.
two 10mm m6 nuts and you can lift the tank up and disconnect the sensor on the bottom of the tank.

We have a 2001 Tribute 3.0 4X4, the coolant light came on last year so I added a small amount although it did not look like it need any, light has not come on since. I will keep in mind the faulty fuse on the reservoir.

I added some coolant and reconnected the light and the dash light has turned off. You are right it didn't look that low, but I just added about a half inch worth and now the light is out.

Thanx..

If you are short on money buy a good used one at a scrapyard.

dude just buy one so one day if you have a coolant leak, you would burn up your motor. 100 bucks or 1000+ bucks your choice and this is coming from
someone that rig shit.

One thing is for sure, after searching different forums and such on the web, this is a common problem to Fords. Everything mentioned here is a workaround. Like overfilling about 1/2 inch, disconnecting, used junk yard stuff, etc...

So, I ordered a new online yesterday...$65 ....including shipping. Lite was coming on once again but intermittently.

Don't know how to help, mine has not come back on since. Engine temp seems good, no running problems.
