i just bought a 87 honda accord hatchback, and i dont know anything about it. All it says on the back is Accord S, maybe its missing sometin before the s. Anyways, im just curious if its got a carb or if its fuel injected, i have no idea of what to look for on the bastard. Any help would be appreciated.

God... those carbs look so much more complicated then our good ol' injectors...

usually a carbeurated engine will have a round air filter right on top of the engine, whereas a fuel injected engine will have the filter tucked off to the side in a rectangular plastic box with a big hose coming out of it.

It'll probably say PGM-FI right on top of the motor if injected.

Yes, those old carburetors were spaghetti factories. Honda's carbs were the most complex bastards on the road. Luckily, they were pretty reliable.

I forgot all about the print on the engine, that's a lot easier.

if u have a big black air box that is rectangular looking sitting on top of your block, then its carburated, if you dont have that then its fuel injected

that would be a fuel injected engine, except you probably dont have the cold air induction
