2001 325i Cruise Control

I recently purchased a very clean 2001 325i Automatic with sport shifter and cruise control from a local dealership. However, a few days later when I expected that I'd find the cruise control (somewhere on the column), it didn't exist. :shakehead
The cruise control is pretty mandatory for me; not an afterthought in my purchase. The dealership (Toyota) IS planning on giving me $ 225.00 in leiu of their oversight as they're unable or unwilling to install one.
In all fairness, I certainly don't have any idea what it's gonna take/cost to have the cruise control installed or to where I should go to have it installed (BMW or an independent around Orange County in Southern California) Please help me make an informed decision on a car my 17 year old son will frown :disappoin upon my buyig for MYSELF.
