Mazda SENKU - the next ROTARY concept to be released at the 2005 Tokyo AutoshowRevvRX-7 10-04-2005, 06:05 PM I got an email from the Houston RX-7 club and this is what it read. We received some exclusive information about the Rotary Offerings at the 2005 Tokyo Autoshow. There will be no production RX-7 shown. HOWEVER, there will be a 2 door Rotary Concept! Rotarynews has learned the Mazda SENKU is powered by a Direct Injection RENESIS 1300cc Rotary Engine, mated to a rear wheel drive hybrid system. The concept boasts a 3100mm (122") wheel base, 22 inch rims, and a 'surprising sliding door.' SENKU translates to "forerunner," "pioneer," or, oddly enough by one translation: "pilot car." Next up, there will be a concept Mazda5 with a Hydrogen Rotary Engine, plus hybrid technology in a Front wheel drive layout. Finally, Mazda will announce that the Hydrogen RX-8 will be ready for a general lease program in Japan in January 2006. Pics, press kits and photos will be available soon!! See everyone at the meeting tonight at Freebirds! Too bad theres no new RX-7 being shown, but this is some pretty neat stuff.
