Most McLaren F1's in one picture?hurstg01 10-03-2005, 07:40 AM Hello all Here is a challenge for you Who has the picture that has the most Mclaren F1's in it? They can be roadgoing or racing variants (or both?!) but preferably roadgoing. Proof is in the posting of the picture 1/10 is Peloton....... Peloton25 10-03-2005, 10:38 AM I'll let Chris post it since he's the one who scanned it - but the shot with the most F1s that I have seen comes from Driving Ambition. It shows 9 McLaren F1s outside the McLaren Cars factory at the F1 GTR introduction. It's the only photo I have ever seen from the event unfortunately. Must have been quite a sight. >8^) ER tak43 10-03-2005, 03:14 PM Here one i took that,s has 4 in it Le mans winner at the back the red is now Nick Mason car,XP LM1 and Mcalren own car http://image50.webshots.com/50/2/58/80/467425880XQWIpe_ph.jpg tak43 mini magic 10-03-2005, 03:31 PM Thanks Erik. I have no idea on the year Peloton25 10-03-2005, 03:41 PM Chris - The year on those was 1995. The Festival of Speed was approx 1 week after LeMans. tak43 - that's an awesome photo you shared. Any chance you have more from that setting? I have never seen a single shot of those cars together like that. >8^) ER tak43 10-03-2005, 03:45 PM The year these were taken was 1995 i was there you were aloud to through the barrier and taken photo they would only let a few people on and you give a picture bookmark of 5 Mclaren that race in the BPR series of that year i have the same photos that i took in my collection tak43 tak43 10-03-2005, 03:53 PM Yes give a few moments i am upload a couple more tak43 10-03-2005, 04:03 PM Here is another http://image61.webshots.com/61/7/68/6/467476806GrZBfM_ph.jpg Here is another one http://image56.webshots.com/56/8/21/51/467482151tQZKSR_ph.jpg tak43 mini magic 10-03-2005, 04:20 PM Great pics tak43! :) toddreuter 10-03-2005, 06:56 PM I can't see the shots! :( Is there anyway somebody could rehost them? For some reason my computer says that I'm "Not authorized to view this page." If using Internet Explorer, click on the link, and when the page loads that gives you the error, click the "Go" button at the end of the address bar or "Refresh" to load the image. Edit: Third option - Right-click on the links, and select "Save Target As..." and select the location for the image to be saved on your PC. Once the download is complete, click "Open" to view the file. >8^) ER toddreuter 10-03-2005, 07:22 PM Okay, thanks! :) Great shots tak43! ArchangelGTR 10-03-2005, 10:20 PM Great shot Tak. The last one is new to me. What occasion/date is that exactly? Peloton25 10-05-2005, 05:49 AM It's a screengrab from the "Martin Brundle's Supercars" DVD. He pays a visit to the McLaren Technology Center in one of the bonus scenes to give a quick overview of the Merc/McLaren SLR, and while he is there he briefly mentions the F1, LM and GT that you see in that shot. It's a great DVD, you should really grab a copy for yourself. >8^) ER bucciali 10-05-2005, 06:50 AM Will do. I put it on my list of 'Wannahaves' :D ..and my wishlist at Amazon, of course, if they offer it. ArchangelGTR 10-05-2005, 10:49 AM Nice pics Mini. Peloton25 10-06-2005, 08:24 AM that must be the 1997 race at silverstone...where the race was called due to the increasingly bad weather and the kox/ravaglia fina car barely won... Actually it's the Sebring race here in the USA. >8^) ER ArchangelGTR 10-06-2005, 10:03 AM Peloton is correct. That is a photo from the actual race in Sebring. The sunny pictures in the 1997 GT Endurance for Sebring is incorrect - taken during practice/qualifying. The Sebring race was done in the rain. Peloton25 10-06-2005, 11:06 AM Here's an image I pieced together of the F1s in the BMW Museum. In the original shot, the photo is split at the pole between the V12 LMR and GTR #18R, putting them at opposite ends of the picture. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/Peloton25/McLaren%20F1/bmwgarage_edit.jpg Also, here's a better version of a shot that Chris included on page 1 with the included caption from Driving Ambition. Anyone else realize what it is? >8^) ER That's not XP3. hurstg01 10-06-2005, 01:44 PM That's not XP3. xp3 has the high-mounted mirrors? so that cant be xp3?........ bucciali 10-06-2005, 01:49 PM Is it 001 then? Peloton25 10-06-2005, 02:12 PM That's not XP3. Correct! XP3 does not have high mirrors, and to my knowledge it never has. What it does have that are different from the car in those photos are the prototype corner lenses. We saw them in the recent photos of XP3 when Gordon particpated in the Alfred Dunhill Motorities Tour. This would not be something that could be easily changed, and there would be no reason to upgrade the nose piece to production spec, and then revert back to the earlier style. I really don't know which car it is, but that detail certainly rules out XP3 in my mind. We know its an early car since it has the Citroen-sourced mirrors, but as for which chassis it is, that's going to be a tough one to figure out. >8^) ER FortuneF1 10-07-2005, 01:48 AM damn i was too slow... its not xp3...at least i realized it...thats good for something right? o and my bad on the sebring photo, i assumed it was silverstone because i did not know the sebring race was run in the rain... europerules 10-08-2005, 11:56 AM wasn't there a 10th anniversary run through france...? Peloton25 10-08-2005, 12:02 PM If it happened, no photos ever materialized from it. In this day of digital cameras and cellphone cameras, I find that very hard to believe. >8^) ER bucciali 10-08-2005, 12:20 PM It was a great idea, but it never materialised. Why ofcourse is something you will not find in any side-column news item in the car magazines. :( mini magic 10-08-2005, 03:05 PM Aparently something did happen but it turned into more of a publicity stunt by the organizer (not McLaren) and only a few cars showed up. At least thats how i remember it. F1 monster 10-08-2005, 03:06 PM No, nothing happened. It was postponed, then canceled. mini magic 10-08-2005, 03:23 PM I'm not talking about the one to Le Mans. Maybe he likes you! :D mini magic 10-08-2005, 11:21 PM Sure  He's proven to me numerous times he's "in the know". What reasons would he have to lie to me about an event in France? :uhoh: bucciali 10-09-2005, 04:25 AM So we're talking 2001?? How many F1's? And where did they show up? If this thing did take place, like you are saying, I'm sure we can go and search in certain places to find some nice photographic material. Thanks, Bucciali mini magic 10-09-2005, 10:09 AM I doubt there are any photos anywhere. They would have surfaced by now Peloton25 10-09-2005, 03:21 PM Here's the original thread where the event in France was discussed: McLaren Gathering - is it happening (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=101801) >8^) ER mclaren777 10-13-2005, 02:56 AM http://k5mcl.smugmug.com/photos/38708423-O.jpg http://k5mcl.smugmug.com/photos/38708426-M.jpg These two pictures are amazing!
