this is hillarious but humor me here:

So I'm having a debate on another forum with somone and he is convinced that a 2001 Chrysler lhs is, I quote him, a "high end luxury sedan"

so, to prove a point, I ask you the members of AF this question:

Do you consider the 2001 chrysler lhs to be a high end luxury sedan?

I know nothing about it except its made by Crysler, and thats enough to tell me the answer is No.

Of course your mate might be on those Americans that don't really understand what a High end Luxury Sedan is.

No. It's not even expensive enough to be a "high-end luxury sedan", regardless of how luxurious it is.

Thanks for the reply, yes I was quite confused as to how he could make that assumption but he insists that it is true. Not all of us americans are that lacking in thought process. :) I just needed to prove my point on a neutral forum so I could show him the results since obviously reasoning with him had no impact.

I even asked him to give me something to qualify it as a high end luxury sedan and this is what he posted:

"do you consider bmw 7 series and audi a8 high end? well the LHS falls in that category sizewise, certainly not in anything else, but there is not much more to expect for the price.....nontheless, a chrysler LHS is a full size luxury sedan with all the options of a high end car (2001) its original value was over 30k dollars in 2001....even if cheap compared to other cars in its class, it certainly rolls with the big boys....."

I laughed for about half an hour

Oh well leave this up for about 24hrs and you should get more than enough rational responces to show him how wrong he is.

Its pretty clear he's never actualy driven a High end car and rates everything by its spec sheet and the options list.

it depends how you define "high-end" seems pretty vague to me.

I consider a 7 series a high end luxury sedan

a 2001 LHS? Ha!

highest i would consider is near-luxury or entry level. but high-end? like everyone said, not a chance. audi a8, mb s500, bmw 760i- those are high end. chrysler lhs, high-end wannabe for those that can't afford the above mentioned true lux cars. that's the most generous i'll be for a chrysler lhs.

This dude is on drugs. The Materials(plastic),comfort, ride quality, build quality, etc. doesn't compare to that of BMW's,Benz,or Cadillacs. The price isn't even up there because Chrylers realizes that its low luxury.

Well this has certainly made me laugh. The answer is 'no', btw...

No, but the new Chrysler 300C SRT8 is more upscale than the previous fwd 300.

This guys on crack. The LHS is considered a near luxury sedan. Its competitors are cars like the Pontiac Boneville,Chevy Impala,Ford Taurus, cars like that. Its priced at 30 grand because even Chryler knows its near luxury.Thats why they put plastic everywhere in this car.It doesn't have the ride, half the options, real wood, quality materials or build quality of a BMW,Benz or Cadillac. He's demented.

The LHS is no longer priced at $30,000 because it is no longer built.

No way in hell the Chrysler LHS is a 'high end luxury car'...

More like a family luxury sedan

Well, he got the "Sedan" part right anyway. Let's face it, its an old Intrepid with leather and power windows. My Impala SS has that and I don't consider it luxury. I call it a chevy with the cheapest possible leather and power windows.

Well I know that my parents used to own a Chrysler Sebring and the interior looked almost exactly the same as that and I can tell you that it definately isn't anywhere near high-end luxury. The build quality isn't good enough to even be considered luxury (but if so, its definately damn near the bottom of the pond). The door controls rattled over bumps, and the stereo caused a variety of noises front to back. That and plastics and fake wood are most certainly not luxury. I think the closest thing american to high-end luxury would probably be the new STS? There may be more, but at the moment, I can't come up with any.

The Panoz Esperante GTLM and the Saleen S7 Twin Turbo are the two most expensive cars made in America.

The STS is yes, but the XLR is even nicer.

Kurtdg19 said, "I think the closest thing american to high-end luxury would probably be the new STS?" but I should have said that the Panoz Esperante GTLM and the Saleen S7 Twin Turbo are the two most high-end American cars and they have a lot of performance and luxury.
