Does anyone know what the sensors on a cherokee transmission are? There are about 4 on the drivers side of the transmission. I have been told that the transmission is a Toyota trans. Can someone point me in the right direction to find out what these sensors are please?

The sensors are scattered about and not all on the transmission itself. What you're probably looking at are the electrical connections to the shift solenoids for 1st through O.D. gears; the transmission uses electrically activated shift solenoids (controlled by the TCM based on inputs from the various sensors). The following is pasted from the factory service manual:

SENSORS
Sensors include:
² throttle position sensor (TPS)
² transmission speed sensor
² vehicle speed sensor
² park/neutral position switch
² brake switch

Hope this helps...

P.S. The transmission is an Aisin-Warner AW-4 and it is also used various Toyota vehicles....
