98 jeep cherokee transmission sensorsbull12 10-02-2005, 10:09 PM Does anyone know what the sensors on a cherokee transmission are? There are about 4 on the drivers side of the transmission. I have been told that the transmission is a Toyota trans. Can someone point me in the right direction to find out what these sensors are please? sector95 10-03-2005, 12:05 AM The sensors are scattered about and not all on the transmission itself. What you're probably looking at are the electrical connections to the shift solenoids for 1st through O.D. gears; the transmission uses electrically activated shift solenoids (controlled by the TCM based on inputs from the various sensors). The following is pasted from the factory service manual: SENSORS Sensors include: ² throttle position sensor (TPS) ² transmission speed sensor ² vehicle speed sensor ² park/neutral position switch ² brake switch Hope this helps... mike P.S. The transmission is an Aisin-Warner AW-4 and it is also used various Toyota vehicles.... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
