Acronyms and Prefixes and what notCapt.Moe 10-02-2005, 09:25 PM Sitting here trying to read through some posts to learn more, and all I see are things like FC SAFC S5 and what not, could someone help me out on understanding what all this stuff means? Thanks Morgan MBTN 10-03-2005, 11:09 AM SA22C/FB, FC, FD: 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation model RX-7, respectively. SAFC: Super Air Fuel Controller. Basically a piggy-back fuel computer, used to tune cars. S5: Series 5. The cars were called "series" for their time periods. S4 and S5 refer to the series of second generations (FC) for example. drftk1d 10-04-2005, 12:03 AM you can tell a s4 and s5 apart easily: s4's have a black stripe runing down the side of the body regardless of the cars color, s5's everything is color matched and it has the "circle" tailights. for the 3rd gen/FD3S, the only series we have is series 6 1st gen (SA22C/FB): s1 = 79/80 s2 = 81-83 s3 = 84/85 2nd gen (FC3S) s4 = 86-88 s5 = 89-91 3rd gen (FD3S) s6 = 93-95 in japan the FD went up to series 8 Capt.Moe 10-04-2005, 12:50 AM okay, that's all well fine and dandy thanks for the help with that. How about the rest of the Acronyms that you people use on this site? And what does FD FC SA and FB mean? Anything in particular? drftk1d 10-04-2005, 06:43 PM sa/fb/fc/fd are just the chassis code mazda gave the cars the '3' in the chassis code refers to the last digit of engine displacement in liters, the 'S' means a coupe bodystyle Capt.Moe 10-08-2005, 05:54 PM So with that information if someone said they had an FC 13B S that would be like saying I have an 86-91 13B NA RX-7 Coupe? Capt.Moe 10-08-2005, 05:55 PM Assuming I've got everything right? As I might not, and if not, help me to get it right. lol. drftk1d 10-12-2005, 01:39 AM So with that information if someone said they had an FC 13B S that would be like saying I have an 86-91 13B NA RX-7 Coupe? the full chassis code for any 86-91 RX-7 coupe is FC3S since all FC's have 13Bs, that is understood so if you have a 89 non turbo rx7, its a FC3S non turbo. dont sweat it. just say RX-7 if its too confusing the convertible FC3C ('C' meaning convertible) Capt.Moe 10-12-2005, 03:21 AM Yeah I think I will untill I figure it out better. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
