1995 Sport Cherokee Won't Start - Not Coildburk802 10-02-2005, 02:56 PM I have a 1995 Sport Cherokee, won't start - just installed a new coil, that didn't help. The engine cranks, but won't start. I have fuel pressure. Any advice? Thank you. 89ltd 10-03-2005, 08:46 AM I would check the crank positon sensor(TPS) on the trans bell housing, common problem , good place to start. Did you check for spark? dburk802 10-03-2005, 11:04 AM I would check the crank positon sensor(TPS) on the trans bell housing, common problem , good place to start. Did you check for spark? Thank you for your response. Checked for spark, there wasn't any. Headed to get a new cps now, had a bit of a problem locating one, need to drive about 50 miles each way, but at least I know they have the correct part because I have it in my hand and we were able to match it. Hopefully this is the problem. I'll let you know what happens. dburk802 10-03-2005, 01:37 PM That was the problem, replaced the CPS (TPS) and it works great. Thanks again, 89ltd 10-03-2005, 01:49 PM sorry, (cps), glad you got it running, although it could have been the camshaft position sensor or the computer ect., the cps is a common problem on the 4L. dburk802 10-03-2005, 01:55 PM Thanks. Our other 1995 Jeep Sport Cherokee has 70,000 more miles on it than this one (which has 188,000) and has never had any of these problems (knock on wood), so it might come in handy to learn about these things, plus we learned how to get the codes off the computer through all of this. That could come in very handy! simpleman1776 10-13-2005, 09:49 PM That was the problem, replaced the CPS (TPS) and it works great. Thanks again, got one f those myself, ran fine for 10 yrs, then today on first day of a new job, wouldn't start, I'm going with the cps also, has to be the prob. will let you all know, great vech. though... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
