Just wondering what would be the easiest way to test EGR? Suggestions please.

here's the way i test the EGR valve

with the engine idling, disconnect the vacuum hose from the EGR valve and disconnect the vacuum hose to the fuel preasure regulator, put the vacuum hose to EGR valve. when the valve opens, the engine should stall

to test the EGR solenoid, you need a scan tool

if it's an electrical EGR valve, then you need a scan tool to test it

I disconnect both vacuum hoses while idling, then put the egr valve hose back on the egr? Or put the fuel pressure hose on the egr? I think its the egr hose back to the egr but I just want to be sure.

How can you tell what type egr you have? If it helps this is a 91 plymouth voyager 3.0.

Thanks for the reply, I will try this tonight after work.

take both of them off, then take the hose you took off of the fuel preasure reguator and put it to the EGR valve. the hose from the fuel regulator should have about 22 PSI of vacuum. when you put it to the EGR valve, it will be enough vacuum to open the EGR valve and send some exhaust gases into your cylinders causing your engine to stall

the 91 probablly has a regular EGR valve
