I have a 97 integ GSR and I am trying to decided to get a used b-series turbonetics turbo kit! I met this guy who is selling a used B-series Turbonetics Turbo Kit and he is selling it to me for $500 plus my LS webs w/tires. I a total newbie with turbo kits on what to look out for, here is a list of what he has from the kit:

turbonetics t3/t4 turbo
Mushroom shaped air filter
tial wastegate with dump tube
tial BOV and a stage 3 adjustable blue BOV
2.5in down pipe(has been cut shorter)
equal length turbo manifold
huge front mount intercooler
randon charge pipes
missing link
AEM adjustable fuel pressure regulator
autometer carbon fiber air/fuel gauge
white face no name boost gauge
the dual pillar black gauge holder(black)
RC 550 injectors
braided steel 6ft oil feed line the fitting is cut off

I asked him how much miles it has and if there is anything wrong with the turbo kit and this is what he said, "The only thing from the list that I have sold is thr injectors,,, kit is in very good conditions with no shaft play and only about 350 miles but the oil line fitting was cut off but its a 6ft line so u can get it refitted for like literally 10 dollars,, I have the down pipe but its cut short but the flang and pipe is there u just will need to get a custom exhaust welded, but ya the turbo is mint and there is no cracks in the maniflod at all, and the gauges work great and have existing wiring and pretty much every thing is great condition but need oil line refitted."

I have some pics that he sent me of the turbo kit and I will post them up later. But I want to know first if this is a good deal? If there is anything else that I should ask him or look out for before purchasing this turbo kit? I would really appreciate it if you guys could help me out on this decision!

Thank You

It doesn't sound like a bad deal. You should really read up on turbos if you're new to them.

What size is the oil feed line (-3an,-4an,ect)? What kind of manifold is it (what brand)? It says on the bov that it is adjustable but tial doesn't make an adjustable bov. You are going to want to ditch the missing link and get a good 2.5 bar map sensor and you are going to need to get a good engine management unit (hondata, neptune, aem, ect.) If I was you I would definitely make sure there was no shaft play in the turbo and that the seals are in good shape.

i doubt he'll plan on running more than 11psi, so i think he can keep his stock map sensor

Yeah didn't even think about that. I don't think it sounds like he'll be running that much boost.

host image then paste url to after clicking image tab.

of course vtec and boost is good.

so, do you think people turn their vtec off with a switch when they boost into vtec ;)

This is what the guy qouted about the kit if it is stolen why he cut the downpipe and why he sold the injecters.

"The turbo kit was on a b16 and I am a very legit guy and I will show u paper work for my motor that I purchased a intec racing in kent/renton,,, A guy who works at intec offered me 200 cash for my injectors so I sold them like 3 weeks ago,,, the down pipe is shortened because I kept switching my exhaust setup like every other week so every time it got cut shorter but u can get a piece custom welded a mufler shop for honestly 30 or 20 dollars,,, Plus if u run less than 10 pounds of boost the stock injectors will be fine with the aem fuel pressure regulater that I am adding and the gauge will show if its lean or rich so u can get a 255 walbro for like 80 dollars and run 15 pounds on stock injectors with tuning and fpr,, no its not stolen,, I still live at home and u can ask my parent if u feel like u need to do that and they will tell u that I honestly paid for it. "

I have some more questions:
Will my stock engine be able to handle the turbo kit? Just to make sure what is the compression ratio of a b18c1 engine again?

Jdm engine : B18C GSR
Year : 94+
Valve train : DOHC, VTEC, 16 Valve
Jdm transmission : Hydraulic
Displacement : 1.8L

Horsepower : 185 HP
Torque : 129lbs-ft@6200rpm
Compression : 10.6:1

Thats for a JDM B18C1. do you have a B18c US? if you do you will have 175hp. and if you do boost your car you are going to need to get a vtec controller(apexi makes one if you dont want a new ecu,its a piggie back on your nomal ecu) or adjustable cams. and watch out for the high compression ratio, that means you will need less PSI(boost) to get the hp you are looking for. If you run your PSI to high, say good bye your engine.

wow that is just blantly wrong.

I'm not even mad i'm amazed thats amazing.

call ma$e on hondatech tell him 12psi on a stock JDM gsr is stupid and he has no clue what hes doing and his 10psi 300 HP one is bad too.

Your theory is almost right but lol at vtec controller.

dont boost more than like 8lbs on the stock motor....or it will go KAAABOOM....trust me...ive seen it happen....GSR's have too high of compression for high boost...if u want to do it right, swap the pistons for some low comp ones....like 9.5:1 and run like 15lbs....that car would dip

Some wrong specs and wrong names and ignore the advice for vtec controller...im pretty sure honda knew what they were doing when they set up vtec...
