I went to roll down my passenger window and I heard a grinding noise and it stopped. I removed the door panel and saw it was my window cable and it had been crimped and frayed. A mechanic told me I needed a new regulator, but that doesn't come with a cable- so this doesn't solve my problem. But, I don't know what it is I'm looking for. My motor works fine, but does a new one come with a cable? No one seems to know what I am talking about when I say my window cable. I just need to know what it is I'm looking for and the best way to get a hold of the part. Anyone? Anyone? Please?! This has been a frustation for over a month now! First...what year is your truck? Next, check with the dealership and ask whatit's supposed to come with to replace the cable. If they want too much, go to a junk yard and look for a totaled truck and pull it yourself, or get someone to help you who you know and/or trust. After all that, send me $20 for my guidance!!!

that crimped and frayed cable is ok as long as its not broken apart.....if you heard grinding, then the gears in the reg got stripped out...means its bad now...
