Lost Compression on all cylinders, right sidekreynolds 09-20-2005, 07:41 AM My 1995 4runner, v6 shut down on the way home saturday. Had it checked monday and good fuel and spark, no compression on 1,3,5 cylinders. What would you check if you lost compression on all 3 cylinders on one side? Motor has 30k (rebuilt) and ran great all summer. Compression on 2,4,6 was 140, 148, 140. Kurt fourwd1 09-20-2005, 12:44 PM Blown head gasket, a big problem on the 3.0 Brian R. 09-20-2005, 04:13 PM Could be timing belt slipped a few teeth on that camshaft pulley. Do a leak-down check and see where the air is coming out. Exhaust or intake valves, then it's timing belt. If its water jacket or oil filler, it's head gasket. (probably head gasket as fourwd1 said) kreynolds 09-21-2005, 10:46 AM You were right Brian, timing belt had slipped 6 teeth, now to find out why? Kurt [QUOTE=Brian R.]Could be timing belt slipped a few teeth on that camshaft pulley. Brian R. 09-21-2005, 06:24 PM Probably a bad tensioner - Replace the belt and tensioner, make sure all the pulleys are clean. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
