Is it just gas or not...Rollingbones 09-18-2005, 01:59 PM OK folks, since we've all been looking at miledge and performance issues, I think this might me a good time for everyone to chime in on what brand of fuel we trust to power that which is near and dear to our hearts (mentioning octane is acceptable if desired)!!! Also feel free to chime in on what's god and what's not so good and why!!! BlenderWizard 09-18-2005, 02:01 PM I use whatever I find cheapest QuikTrip, RaceTrac, Citgo, Texaco, Conoco, Kroger, BJ's Warehouse are the brands I frequent nineball481 09-18-2005, 02:40 PM I use BP/Amaco or shell for my truck. I use Speedway for my work car. There is a difference between the gas that differnt stations use. Some are diluted, some contain alot of cleaning adgents, ect... I have definetly had cars that did not like a certain company's gas (filled up multiple times, so I have ruled out a 'bad batch') so I no longer take any of my vehicles there. I used to work for Shell and have come to trust their gas. I generally gain ~1mpg using BP and Shell compared to other brands. Not to mention that regardless of brand any more, there is no difference in price greater than a couple pennies in Indianapolis. dr_of_lovephd 09-18-2005, 03:18 PM I used to frequent the speedway and cheap gas stations, until one day I had to buy gas and I was in a town without a cheap brand. I was amazed by how much better gas mileage my truck had with the more expensive stuff, and I never went back to the cheap stores. On top of the added fuel mileage, my truck seemed to run a lot better and idle much smoother. kenwood guy 09-18-2005, 06:49 PM what octane do you guys use and if the mpg went up give the name of the gas station broughy84 09-18-2005, 08:34 PM I use 90 octane from Casey's General Stores....It's 10% ethanol and it is usually cheaper than 87 elsewhere. sc_customs 09-19-2005, 01:24 AM 91 octane from Chevron (with techron!! yes!!) jeverett 09-19-2005, 09:23 AM I use Chevron, Amoco, and 76 gas. The 76 is what I use most b/c my girlfriends mom works for a 76 distributor. They sell 114 octane, but damn its expensive!!!!! TexasF355F1 09-19-2005, 11:48 AM I use Exxon primarily. I've always had luck with it and I own a shares in the company...so I've got to support ya know.:D But I also use Chevron, Randalls sometimes although I don't like it that much and Sam's Club. But I'll also fill up at Conoco/Phillips if that's what I'm buy and I'm in dire need of gas, which is a rarity. Bill-SILV 09-19-2005, 07:39 PM I use BP in my work car and I usually use Amoco or Mobil or BP for my truck. I personally was told by the dealership to stay away from Shell because they have known cases where it causes problems with their vehicles. He couldnt give me anything in writing. At the time my work was using shell and we started seeing a lot of problems with our chevys and I talked them into switching to BP and so far so good. I think they said the main problem noticed was hesitation and backfiring with shell gas. BlenderWizard 09-19-2005, 08:23 PM 91 octane from Chevron (with techron!! yes!!) Texaco now claims their fuel contains techron. Does an independent manufacture techron or did Texaco and Chevron merge? http://www.texaco.com/sitelets/techron/default.asp Nevermind, I answered my own question; Chevron is now the supplier of many Texaco stations jers99z 09-19-2005, 09:30 PM I usually use the cheapest gas i can find, its usually on the base where i work. 10 to 12 cents cheaper than gas for civilians. I guess thats a perk of the military. im not sure which company the base uses though, but my truck and my car run fine, on average gets 13 and my car is getting 22 MPG, so i dont know what else would be that different. TexasF355F1 09-19-2005, 09:33 PM Texaco now claims their fuel contains techron. Does an independent manufacture techron or did Texaco and Chevron merge? http://www.texaco.com/sitelets/techron/default.asp Nevermind, I answered my own question; Chevron is now the supplier of many Texaco stations Yea, Chevron and Texaco merged years ago. Keep up with the times man! LOL, just messing with ya. But yea they're a conglomate. BlenderWizard 09-19-2005, 11:23 PM So I guess they pulled an Amoco/BP? I always thought that was funny that American Oil Company merged with British Petroleum Flyin 1500 09-19-2005, 11:36 PM I use Costco gas primarily....It's usually the cheapest around here TwentyPints 09-20-2005, 07:57 AM costco sells gas in the US? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
