ej20t into 2.5 RS motor swap

My 98 2.5RS engine blew and I'm trying to put a 95 ej20t motor into it. The problem is that the ej20t came with an automatic tran. Does anyone know if the manual transmission in the 2.5 RS will hook up to ej20t and where I can get info on how to reprogram my new ECU?

the engine should bolt up to the tranny. The only thing that would be different would be the number of bolts that would go into the tranny. All the holes should line up, but there would be 2 holes that weren't threaded on the eninge (for pegs instead of bolts). You do have to get a new crossmember for the exhaust piping to fit, in case you hadn't known that already.

as far as reprogramming the ecu....i don't know about that....everything I've done and read, you have to either

1) get all the underdash wiring for the engine being swapped in and merge that harness with what's already in your car.

2) go with a standalone engine management. You're stock ecu would run everything else, the standalone would run just the engine.

**EDIT: Thinking about it now...I think the 98 transmission is the same bolt/peg pattern so it would be the same. the 99.5-2001 transmission is where the bolt/peg number changes.

It depends on which '98 2.5RS you have as to whether the engine would bolt up to the transmission easily.
Do you know which block you had?
