2000 Jeep grand cherokee wont start??!!nmladucky 09-15-2005, 03:17 AM If I jump start it...it will start however it starts hard. Something just sounds slow in the ignition process. After I jumped it, it started for days. Now it just wouldn't start again. First thought was the battery cables, but those are clean. Any ideas. inkmonki 09-16-2005, 12:38 AM are you sure it isnt your key? There have been problems with that key and the responder losing frequency and not being able to read the key. try your spare and see what happens. hope this helps. g1smith 09-17-2005, 04:20 AM When it won't start, does it seem to crank normally or does it sound like a weak battery? Your battery is now 6 years old and the temperature is falling, could be going bad. If you have a volt-meter, the battery should be putting out about 13 volts with the engine off and 14 to 16 when its running. I've gotten to know the guys on a first name basis down at the local Autozone, they love my Jeep $$$ I'm sure they would be willing to do a load test on your battery for free. When a battery goes bad, it could take out the alternator too . . . and then the voltage regulator for the alterhator is built into the engine computer, the PCM. I'd definitely get this taken care of before something really expensive gets taken out. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
