Bad A$$ looking vehicle with a Bad A$$ price on it....to bad the 1988 Chevrolet Callaway Sledgehammer Corvette kicked its ass on top speed and as well with many other cars.

I believe the Bugatti would own the Corvette. How many people do you know that drive 260-270 mph? I'm pretty sure the Bugatti would own it in all other categories. Which would you rather have?

The Veyron is better than the Corvette but also much more expensive.

Yes, I agree with the bugatti being the better looking and might have more HP, but the stats i seen showed the sledgehammer putting up a top speed of 254.8mph and that was faster than the Veyron. Your right Demon, who drives 260mph?? lol But me a chevy Guy i would rather have the Corvette b/c its american made and less expensive.

The Bugatti Veyron has 1001 hp exactly ! that's more, indeed.
Who drives at 260 mph ? ... of course not many people but it shows the capacities of this fabulous car.
I'd prefer a Geo metro... if I want to spend less money. Heum ! Don't compare a car of 60 000 and a car of 900 000 !!!! The Bugatti is of course better. It could for the price.
The Corvette is american made : is it a quality ? ....

gemballa

 You can buy 2 Murcielagos for that price!!! I would rather have them than that Bugatti...

Scott 02

yeah same here:)

Stefanel1

When you buy a car of this price, money is rarely a prolem. So you can buy a Bugatti and a Murcielago...

Scott 02

You rich as hell or something....must be nice if you can buy a Murcielago and still be in good shape.

of course it would be nice to be able to buy the Murcielago and still be in shape I would love to have that kind of money.

I honestly would rather have the Veryon then the sledgehmmer. For one I hate vettes but that doesnt matter. What matters is the Buggatis performance on the track not just the drag strips. Plus its a nie ass car with alot of stuff you get because its a rare car.

Is the sledgehammer street legal and how many were made?

Stefanel1

How many parts did it share with a production Corvette? Two?
That was just as much Corvette as this is a New Beetle

Is the Sledgehammer street legal?!? seriously I do not know and if it is did it go into production or how many of them were actually made.

I am honestly tired of people saying Sledgehammer vette everydamntime I say its the precedent in supercars not some car some1 souped up or else I would say the 2002 Formula1 Ferrari ok!!!

Scott 02

EEK sounds like you don't like Corvettes.

italteen3
01-21-2003, 03:30 PM
sorry for the double post but I misunderstood something well I honestly would take a Bugatti 16/4 Veryon over the Sledgehammer vette.

If any2 did not know about the veryon it is 1001hp, quad turbo, W-16, a whole bunch of many other details also...

Scott 02
01-21-2003, 03:31 PM
I think the Vette would handle better than the Veyron.

nope I despise them there are too many of them plus every1 brags about the damn 427tt and sledgehammer. They never went into production but were just souped up versions of vettes which was acheived by a very good engine guy Lingenfelter right?

Is the one that goes 0-60 in under 2 seconds street legal can some1 please answer me?

and I know there are plenty of 1/4 mile times fo it but I heard nothing of track runs because I think thats what makes a good car. I have seen a guy with a street legal supra that runs flat 9's come on lets praise that now wel Im not even though I love Supra's its not a production car...

01-24-2003, 01:59 PM
no I wont but I mean if you say its fast I know it is but then I could say the 2002 Scuderia Formula1 Ferrari and then thats the end of it, but what I was trying to say is that this is the next supercar not a one off.

I may hate vettes but I dont think the 427tt isnt fast its hella fast but I look at it as another souped up non-production car.

do you see what Im getting at or do you think Im an idiot or something?

Scott 02
01-24-2003, 03:38 PM
Idiot, 2002 Scuderia Formula1 Ferrari is a race car. J/K about you being an idiot. :D

Ok sorry about the whole street "leagle" deal hahaha. Sorry i mispelled legal too. I type so damn fast anymore I mess up all the time. Just don't make a big deal about it next time. Now your question is " is the Sledgehammer Corvette legal? " Well to answer your question i'd say yes. Why wouldn't it be?

lol

well ok but the main reasons for it not being legal is emmisions, catalytic converter, and all that good stuff......... well it might have that and it might not but I dont think its a supercar because of production basically it might be on some supercar sights but then any souped up street legal car can be considered one then if you see what Im getting at?

WHat I am also saying is some1 says Bugatti new fastest supercar in the worldd when it comes out its true because its a production car but I just hate when people go and say a car some1 souped up or else I would be talking about that Supra Ive seen you catch what Im trying to get at Scott?

I think the bugatti veryon is better than a Mclaren F1 or LM

the veryon is even 4WD which gives the car better acceleration 0-60 2.9 sec dam dats fast!!

and it has a top speed of 251mph which is mo faster than the F1 or LM

but the tomahawk motorcyle(viper engine 500hp) 300mph+ is insane!!!!

300mph motorycle ? Forgedaboutit! :screwy: 250 mph Veyron? Forgedaboutit also... Like I said before.. please do not, I repeat DO NOT confuse test figures with ***manufacturer specs***. If you cannot tell the difference go through the whole "world's fastest car" thread in this forum...

as for the Sledgehammer they just made the one back in the late '80s (it would be interesting to know where it is nowdays) it was designed to be street-legal (engine and gearbox were quite smooth considering the 920 HP) but ultimately the 410kph/255mph top was achieved on non-legal slick tyres. Tyres is part of the reason the Veyron's top is going to be reduced from 406kph to 350kph. That's cause they want it be driven on the streets without getting any tickets (or worse) for illegal tyres...(ok not the only reason!) so see, being street legal IS important cause otherwise like it was mentioned Mr. Schumacher could cruise downtown in his F2004 :eek7:

The Veyron will have a topspeed of approx. 370kmh, when sufficient downforce is available. If a client wishes, downforce can be reduced, giving a top speed of possibly over 400 (but at worse handling)

The Veyron's Michelin tires are legal. Go here (http://auto.howstuffworks.com/bugatti5.htm) to read about them. Read all that stuff about the car. Gives tons of info and tells you how to get to some cool stuff on Bugatti's website. I love that site.
