91 Accord Speedometer Inaccurate

I recently purchased and installed new faceplates for the original speedometer, odometer, and fuel and temp meters. On the original gauges, the max speed displayed was 120mph. However, on the new faceplates, the max speed is 140mph. This means that whenever I'm actually traveling 60mph, it is displayed as 70mph, and the inaccuracy increases at higher speeds.
I've heard that it's possible to calibrate the speedometer needle so that the new gauges will be accurate, but I don't know how to do that, or how to check the accuracy. Help of any kind would be most appreciated.
