Interior Work/Customization on a 1991 Lumina EuroNeonKnight 09-14-2005, 07:31 PM Hey guys, im going to change the interior of my 91 Lumina Euro from Grey and dark grey to black and red. what would be the best bet to paint the Dash, and interior plastic pieces? im not going to use spray paint since that sux and would come off easily. im thinking i will need some kind of acrylic paint, and i do have access to a power sprayer which i will use. I also want to change the Lights in the cluster to blue LED lights make it nice and bright. i also want to get a Lumina Z34 Front and rear bumper and throw it on my car... i knwo the front can be done.. the rear im worried about since the license plate is in the middle. now i know that i would have to redo all the wiring and other stuff from the back but can it be done? i want the side skirts but they would have to be cut and have extra pieces added to make them long enough for my car. thats fiberglass work : / Plus im going to get some Z34 emblems and throw them on my doors and call it a EuroZ. I plan on doing a 3.8 (L67) engine swap eventually when i get the money and my 3.1 goes poo. anyone got an good ideas? NocturnalCreations 09-15-2005, 07:43 PM there is nothing wrong with spray paint. It depends on the type of finish you want. I would'nt spray paint anything that will have a lot of human contact though. As far as the dash goes, just sand and CLEAN all parts to be painted and the paint will hold just fine. And for the door panels go, you can paint some parts and wrap the rest with vinyl or suede or whatever. If you're not concerned with money then use a gravity feed paint gun for the finest and smothest lay. Either way you'll sanding your ass off. Fiberglass, filler and paint all have to be sanded. So if your not pressed about money or time, thats the way to go. I have plenty of parts I used spray paint for and they're just fine. If I have big parts to paint or a lot of parts to paint I use the gravity feed gun. For small projects I mostly use spray paint Any paint job will suck ass if you dont prep the parts properly first. For the instrument cluster you need to see if there is a replacement bulb of a different color to fit your sockets. Thats the cheapest way to go. Some people try to put a film over the back of the cluster but that wont work. If the lights are too hot they'll melt the film and if the film is too thick the light may look dim. If the film is too thin, the lights may look pink instead of red (you did say red right? lol). The BEST way to go is to buy some Red 12v LED's and install them in the back pointing at the driver. And for the bumpers...Im not really sure what would fit and not. I would just try test fitting and see what you come up with. Good Luck :grinno: sorry....lmao....Im just stuck on red (I have issues) Bboy_Jon 09-20-2005, 12:23 AM krylon fusion should work i kinda wanna paint the gauge dash thing what would be a cool color? my car is maroon lol jeffcoslacker 09-20-2005, 02:12 PM Clean everthing with alcohol first so the paint will bond. If there is ANY Armor-All residue on any of it, the paint will just fall off. There is paint specifically made for painting vinyl surfaces, but I can't remember what. tblake 09-20-2005, 09:45 PM The Mighty Jeffcoslacker Is Finally Back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bboy_Jon 09-20-2005, 11:34 PM vinyl dye should work, never used it but from what ive heard, its tight NeonKnight 09-21-2005, 09:59 AM Yay Jeffco ur back!!! w00t <3 yea im going to get the seat covers today, im getting the rear deck... which i have to figure out how im going to change the color of that lol. i guess i have to just shave off the material and throw some adheseive and material on top of it i dont know yet... my Cluster is going to be Red since the backing is black im going to just paint the front piece. im going to rig LED lights in it also probably Blue maybe red. Bboy_Jon 09-21-2005, 04:10 PM how do u get a seat cover over the seat (driver) in a lumina? im pretty sure there all the same i guess, but its just a bench seat but 2/3 of the front seat is the driver seat how do u get a seat cover on that thing NocturnalCreations 09-21-2005, 11:32 PM The seat cover has to be for a 60/40 split bench.
