camry lopinghagman 09-13-2005, 07:47 PM After overheating 93 Camry 3.0, car ran poorly (Misfiring, No power)I replaced ignition wires and car went fron 2 out of ten to 8 out 10 but still has 4 problems 1)engines lopes while cold idling 2)engine will stall out while warm idling 3)check enginle light comes on after car warms up (possibly a knock sensor code) 4) poor gas milage (19mpg) Compression is 160 170 on all 6 cylinders Timing is on new sparkplugs Any suggestions csaxon 09-13-2005, 11:19 PM I would consider a defective coolant temperature sensor. (Toyota calls this an ECT sensor.) It may be defective and always showing a cold engine condition. This could be causing an overly rich condition for a warm engine, causing the symptoms you mentioned. ECT sensor sensor tells the computer what to do with air/fuel ratio ignition timing, etc. hagman 09-18-2005, 04:50 PM I am having trouble traking down which one is the ECT sensor On my3vz-fe 3.0 93 camry there are two sensors side by side the one the one on drivers side has green connector the other is grey. Both sesnors are on the heater hose line as it enters the block on the driver's side. I am not sure which is the ECT sesor and what the other one is The green sensor puts out ohm readings similar to the specs in the hayne's manual for hot and cold temps but the problem is still there. the green wire to this sesnor has a reading of 5 volts the brown wire has o volts The grey sensor has o reistance at hot and cold with o volts at cold tmperature on either lead Please help Thanks eldiablo1100 09-18-2005, 09:39 PM do you have a distributor in your car? it may be the timing csaxon 09-18-2005, 09:57 PM ECT is green usually. hagman 09-18-2005, 10:11 PM Does it look like this? ECT is green usually. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/88116ect-sensor-med.jpg no it dosent't really look like the part in the photo. The sensor does look kind of like that but the piece does not appear to be from the same engine.. My sensor is green however and from a 93 3.0 thanks hagman 09-18-2005, 10:14 PM do you have a distributor in your car? it may be the timing Yes but I have had the timing checked and they tell me it is right on hagman 09-18-2005, 10:23 PM http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker?ForwardPage=/az/cds/en_us/0900823d/80/16/60/0a/0900823d8016600a.jsp Click on image. http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker?ForwardPage=/az/cds/en_us/0900823d/80/13/ec/3f/0900823d8013ec3f.jsp http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker?ForwardPage=/az/cds/en_us/0900823d/80/13/e2/83/0900823d8013e283.jsp Thanks but I have looked at those diagrams and they are not the sensor is not on the location indicated in the photo.
