97 Gs - Power Steering Leak???BROTHERSINBROWNCC 09-12-2005, 11:19 PM I HAVE A 1997 BUICK REGAL GS. THERE IS A DEFINITE POWER STEERING LEAK THAT IS COMING FROM THE RESIVOIR AREA. BECAUSE OF THE TIGHT LOCATING OF THE RESIVOIR, I AM UNABLE TO PIN-POINT THE LEAK. CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS MODEL YEAR? IF NOT, HAS ANYONE HAD THIS PROBLEM THAT COULD GIVE A FEW POINTERS ON A QUICK REPAIR? THERE IS A DEFINITE WINDING SOUND WHEN I STEER THE CAR. ANY INFORMATION OR GUIDANCE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. I don't know if its a common problem but they have been known to go bad. Also the seal on the pump shaft behind the pulley. The leak could also be coming from the pressure and return lines. The best way to determine where leaks are is to jack the car up and remove the passenger wheel. Then remove the plastic splash guard for a better view. After all it's a 8 year old car. Good luck! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
