Hey guys, I’m new to this forum. But I have a little issue with my Xterra that I wanted cleared up.

I own a 2005 xterra S with a Auto tranny. The problem is; every time I switch into reveres (mostly from drive) I get this weird clunk sound from the tranny/drivetrain. This has been around since I got the car (about 2 months ago) and it’s starting to worry me. The car was bought new so it’s definitely under warranty (900 miles).

I figured perhaps because it’s a pretty heavy duty tranny that it’s making that sound but a few of my friends said it sounds ugly and peculiar. Do any of you guys get this sound too? I plan to take the car back to the dealer sometime this week to have it looked at. Figured I’d get a straight answer from some owners here before listening to the beneficiaries.

It's under warranty, see your dealer.

any word from your dealer on this issue. My 2000 does the same thing, and unfortunately it is out of warranty, so any insight you can provide would be helpful.

[All I can remember from working at Nissan is that there is a TSB. If you do a search on the internet you may be able to find it.

There's no TSB for the 2000 automatic transmission. There was a recall on a shift lock plate though.
