Clunking sound when changing into reverse.logen99999 09-11-2005, 12:46 AM Hey guys, I’m new to this forum. But I have a little issue with my Xterra that I wanted cleared up. I own a 2005 xterra S with a Auto tranny. The problem is; every time I switch into reveres (mostly from drive) I get this weird clunk sound from the tranny/drivetrain. This has been around since I got the car (about 2 months ago) and it’s starting to worry me. The car was bought new so it’s definitely under warranty (900 miles). I figured perhaps because it’s a pretty heavy duty tranny that it’s making that sound but a few of my friends said it sounds ugly and peculiar. Do any of you guys get this sound too? I plan to take the car back to the dealer sometime this week to have it looked at. Figured I’d get a straight answer from some owners here before listening to the beneficiaries. thanks a lot! My 2000 does the same thing, and unfortunately it is out of warranty, so any insight you can provide would be helpful. Thanks in advance. mooty denali1999 11-22-2005, 01:25 AM [All I can remember from working at Nissan is that there is a TSB. If you do a search on the internet you may be able to find it. OffroadX 11-22-2005, 07:22 AM There's no TSB for the 2000 automatic transmission. There was a recall on a shift lock plate though. http://www.nissan-techinfo.com/nissan/TSB/Nov/Xterra_WD22.asp -RotorDemon- 11-23-2005, 12:09 AM Probably the U-joint. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
