Has anyone ever had a hard time getting the caliper bolts off?

Yup. Broke a 1/4" socket trying to get it off with the wrong but only available socket set. Those caliper bolts have to be lubed or they'll freeze up. Will something longer work?

1/2 inch drive breaker bar, the only way to fly.

I broke a 3/8" drive 17 mm socket on mine. I think it was the first time they had ever been removed. I was trying to remove the rotor. To do this on a '99 you have to remove the bracket the caliper mounts to also.

These were 22 mm heads. A ratchet wouldn't do the job and I only had a 3/8" drive socket. I put it on a 16" 1/2" drive breaker bar with a 1/2 to 3/8 adapter. I sheared the adapter off trying to get these bolts loose.

Score Isuzu 1 -- Craftsman Tools 0.

But seriously, anybody have any recommendation for getting these bracket bolts loose? I've got a 1/2" impact gun but there's no room under there to use it. Would heating the bracket with a propane torch help?

Thank!

Try using the 1/2" drive impact socket on the 1/2" drive breaker bar. Place it on the bolt head fully, stand on breaker bar and bounce till you break it loose.
