Finally gonna get to the leaky valve cover gaskets and, maybe the timing belt. I just did the timing belt and water pump for the first time on my little VW Jetta, and I'm thinking I can handle it.

Parts: valve cover gaskets, intake plenum gasket, spark plug seals, timing belt and pushrod tensioner.

What am I missing?

Cheapest vendor? Online or local parts store?

What's your mileage? You should consider the water pump and thermostat. That way you can flush and fill the cooling system too:-) Good luck.

Right on. Thanks! Due for a flush anyway. It has 146K. I flush it every summer. All this work was first done at 60K. I've waited this long due to many Isuzu folks saying that the t-belt will last 80K easily. When I did all the work on my VW, I found everything to be in excellent condition. Made me wonder why I did it. Routine maintenance pays!

Gonna have to push mine a bit more - but I did have it all done at 60K as well, $1K is just a bit much to come up with with raising gas prices.

I was wondering if you did yours yet. You might want me to practice on a couple more before I get under your hood!
