Coil Tower Spring

I disposed of my coil tower spring believing that all replacement Distributor Caps & Rotor kits came with replacement of the coil tower spring, as well. NOT SO!
1-AutoZone, Advance Auto Parts, & O'Reilly Auto Parts DO NOT sell a replacement spring for Honda Coil/Distributor.
2-Local Salvage yard couldn't help, neither.
3-Honda Dealers that I've called here will sell the WHOLE COIL unit to give you the spring, but not sell the spring separately. :screwy:
4-Is there another place/shop/retailer to go, or another type of spring that could be used?
5-What problems should I prepare for by using a creatively engineered solution (pump spring from a liquid soap dispenser, cut to 1/8" above the end of the coil tower tip, same diameter as the coil tower)? So far, seems like I've got plenty of *umph* , and no CEL codes flashing. Possibly too much resistance, or not enough? RPMs at idle now at 900/1000, up from 750 (specification) that I had with a smaller, retractable pen spring.
Go ahead, laugh...It's working, though. I'm concerned about future issues over incorrect resistance to current thru the jury-rigged spring.

I wouldn't worry about resistance. Good temporary fix. Buty keep looking for the proper spring. Maybe the dealer can save you one from the next coil replacement they do.

What's it worth to you? I'm sure there is one laying around our shop.

Thru one web-site dealer that I got my Honda OEM O2 sensor from, they were quoting $60.00 +/- a couple dollars for Coil Tower Assembly. I figure the greatest part of the cost is in the solid state stuff inside. Would a couple of bucks be out of line? You're the seller, though...what do you want for it?

I've helped a few people out here on AF with misc. parts for Honda's and just charged shipping. First I'll have to confirm I do have one. If I do I will PM you some time tomorrow.
