2000 Ranger - Cold starts / rpms falling offbowhuntr 09-09-2005, 08:12 AM I know that there have been several threads about this. When the truck was cold it would crank but not start. Had to depress the gas pedal to get it to turn over but it still would not keep the rpms up. I had this problem and even the mechanic thought is was the fuel filter which it wasn't. Thought you might wan't to know what to try and they are easy to change yourself. The Idle air control valve was the problem You can clean them but I spent the $50 bucks and just bought a new one. Runs like a champ now rum runner 09-09-2005, 01:25 PM what size engine do you have where is the Idle air control valve located vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
