Driver Window off track

1986 88 (1986 bonneville door)

I was just wondering, how does one install a new window guide clip in a driver's side window? I assume it involves taking the door panel off?

Ok, still cant figure it out.

I took the panel off today and I couldn't figure out a way to get the guide in.

I tried clipping it to the window, greasing up the clip, and shoving it between the pieces of trim but i couldn't get it to slide all the way in.

Is there some special trick to this? Help! I need ventilation! :confused:

any luck yet? how do you know the clip is broken and just not off track?
you might have to remove the "ribs" i guess you would call it.

Nope, no luck yet. The clip is gone for sure -- the window will slide sideways and the hole where the clip is supposed to be is obvious.

I am having this problem right now as well....

Anyone figure it out. Motor works, but window won't go up or down.

Anyway, I never did get it to cooperate, but I ended up just giving that car to a friend of mine who helped me work on it. However, I think I have seen a tutorial on the net (dont know the link) that in order to get the guide back in you have to heat it up with a blowdryer, then clip it onto the glass, then just shove it back into the groove...this is with the window about halfway down.

Umm..yeah...that was close to a year ago so I don't have the link anymore. I may be able to scrounge it up but you would probably have just as much luck searching the net for it as I would :(
