it was great. many thanks to mark...

took like 80 photos, but i'm on dial up so....

Dialup is no excuse... :loser: Seriously, I used to use dialup for my first few years over here. Back in the day, mini magic used to put "Peloton warning" notices on threads that had lots of images inside.

I found that with patience, the only thing I really couldn't do was upload/download videos. 80 images should be no problem... ;)

It's great that you were able to take those pics. I do hope you can share more as this car is like a time capsule from 9 years ago and there really aren't many great shots of it even from when it was racing. You'd be my hero!

I've never seen a short tail GTR, so I'm quite jealous.

Glad to hear that others are getting to have the "experience" though!

Can't wait for whatever you are willing and able to share. :bananasmi

Maranello Motorsport in Melbourne, AUS.

You can see the car here on their website:

http://www.maranellomotorsport.com/displayCar.asp?c=4

Fresh photos of #16R are there as well:

http://www.maranellomotorsport.com/displayCar.asp?c=3

That car is still a few weeks away from it's arrival in Melbourne so I heard.

when door is up, not many photo of these as well, only question was i didn't see any door handles inside the GTR, how the people get the door open from inside, if no one knows, i'll ask mark next time i see him

windsheild wiper, not many photo of that, and note that you can see the tires very clearly through the side air vents

air intake from side pod, almost look like an extra radiator to me, may be pelaton can varify that and exactly where does the air go from here

rear brake air intake. pretty cool. i think standard car, even the LM didn't have that. so i never knew what the thing on the side was for

just a little teaser of other cars offering in there. don't think you can see many photos of those three together in the same photo. pretty cool

The area in that photo is not where you will find the door handles in a McLaren F1. There are typically grab handles there to aid in closing the door once the driver is seated, but on most GTRs those grab handles are missing. Some have it - like #06R and #11R - but others seem to make do with a fabric strap (similar to seatbelt webbing) that is mounted to the middle of the door and hangs down. You can see it in this shot of #10R.

http://a7.cpimg.com/image/47/33/52022087-ac15-00800060-.jpg (http://a7.cpimg.com/image/47/33/52022087-3545-028001E0-.jpg)

On the LM they chose to install two straps, connected at each end, where you would normally find grab handles in the normal F1. Not sure why they didn't go this route on the GTRs:

The actual door handles to open the doors from the inside are located in the same location on all F1s. They are mounted to the front edge of the passenger seats at the outside corners of the car. I have circled them in this shot of #07R.

That duct feeds air to the oil cooler.

rear brake air intake. pretty cool. i think standard car, even the LM didn't have that. so i never knew what the thing on the side was for

The standard F1 road cars have a smaller vent in that location. However, the road cars do not have that ducting to feed air directly to the rear brakes - the vent just dumps air into the the area with the catalytic converters and some of it might help cool the transmission which is located directly below. You will find the larger vent in your shot on all the GTRs as well as the LM. Here's a shot of LM3 showing the underside of that panel and the rest of the ducting:

Take your time - we'll take anything you can give us. Detail shots of GTRs are rather hard to come by so this is extremely appreciated!

Loved it by the way. :grinyes:

peleton, isn't the oil cooler infront of the engine at the right hand side? may be i'm wrong.

do you have a picture of the that from the inside?

i'll go to MM in a few weeks again, i've already spoke to Mark about taking some photo of GTR16, so i'll take a few more of the Lark car. shame that the lang tail is not coming any more.

oh yeah, PM sent.

I do on the LM, but it's not the best angle:

Word on the street is that it has left Australia after a very short stay and was either headed to the UK, or somewhere in Europe.

Any chance that you have a color reference? In some shots it looks quite dark, almost red, in others it appears to be fluorescent pink...
A Glasurit, PPG or Dupont code would be awesome!

It is like a floursecent called 'Rocket' pink, which from memory means 7 layers of paint/lacquer, just like the 'rocket red' on the Marlboro McLarens (and Penskes)

I've heard from a very reliable source that its going to the UK. Have you heard that its going to Europe? I was commenting on the fact that you said uk or europe.

I thought you were just giving our new guy a hard time for asking a question that had already been answered. My apologies. :)
