Transmission

The other day my 90 Accord wouldn't shift out of park so I took the console off to have a look under it. Well when I did I think I messed up the Cable adjustment & am looking for some info on how to correct it. I took it to a transmission shop & explained what happened. They proceded to tell me I needed a new transmission. I've had no problems with it up til the shift lock solenoid went out(i'm assuming this is why it won't go out of park). Does it sound like someone is trying to screw me? Any info on this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Our '90 is having some similar problems... I have noticed that the transmission gear indicator light is not always lit, and it will not shift out of park until it does so. I still have not figured out exactly what is going on, I just use the over ride to put it in "N" to start, then when I get where I am going I just wait for the indicator light to come back on so I can remove the key. If I find something concrete on this, I'll hit you back with it.

Have a Blessed Day!

His post is 3 months old - I imagine he's got it out of park by now!

Yeah, ya know... you'd hope so... but I have the same thing going on, was hoping others would help out, and besides, for myself, I can get to where I am going, but then can't get the key out when I get there! I just sit there until the light on the gear indicator lights back up and then I can get it out. Any help about just what exactly this is would be appreciated... and then there wouldn't be ANOTHER thread about the SAME thing!

Be blessed y'all! Rev. Troy Schlenker
