View Full Version : Fuel filter location on '00 4Runner Fuel filter location on '00 4Runner bs4u00 09-08-2005, 10:11 AM But I need to change the fuel filter on my 2000 4Runner. Can someone tell me where its located? I looked in the usual passenger side location, with no luck. Anything special I need to do when replacing it? And the fuel filter I bought has no bracket like some I've seen on the internet. Do I need one with the bracket or without? Thanks in advace for any help. Take off the shield and unbolt the bracket holding the filter, from the chassis. if the bracket can be removed from the filter (if it's movable), then you don't need a bracket. Be sure you actually need a filter. Normally, they don't need to be changed. I changed the fuel filter last weekend. The fiberglass shield was fastened to the vehicle with 3 bolts(soft steel!). One of them rounded off and I could not get it off. So I had to change the filter with it left on. The filter came off and went back on pretty easy. Probably only 1/2 or 3/4 cup of gas came out, so that was nice. Not too messy considering the shield was still on. Then I had to put the bolt back in the filter clamp. I couldn't get it back in because the bolt is too short. So I went and got a longer bolt and that worked much better. Related Links Participate in thousands of discussions at AutomotiveForums.com! Registration is absolutely free. |
