Pretty cool, and it's definetly a V8.

Sounds like any new ford V8 without an exhaust.

i doubt it is no exhaust at all(open ports). i'll say either open headers or a cutout.

It's actually a Yamaha built engine.

I thought the yamaha was in the old SHO v6.

Yeah, these ford sho's got the ford v8, the older one are the ones that have a detuned, rev friendly, 300hp Yamaha V6

No the old SHO didn't make anywhere near 300hp, and the V8 sho uses a 3.4L V8 Yamaha built engine.

No wonder I thought it was a V6. That displacement is very small for a V8. Sounds awesome nonetheless.

What?! That sounded nothing like a V6! A V8 sounds like a V8 even if its 50 cc! theres some vids of a model V8 and it sounds like a much larger V8!

I said it was a detuned 300hp engine. With mild bolt ons it does have that hp, ford just didn't want a sedan smoking the mustang GT.
Please prove that v8 was built by Yamaha, I am pretty sure the later fords had v8 built by ford.

"For the first time, the SHO has V-8 power, compliments of Yamaha." - Edmunds http://www.v8sho.com/SHO/edmunds.html

Next time you'll have to use Google.

Well, I've heard many larger displacement V6's (3.8 +) with a decent amount of mods, mainly a nice exhaust, and they sound close to a small displacement V8 (4.0 -)

I didn't know that the V8 was made by Yamaha. I just read up and learned that yamaha helped ford develop both engines. I just know that the v6 kicks the v8s butt.

New V8 in the Volvo XC90 is also from Yamaha.

V8 is still built by ford, maybe design is Yamaha, built by ford. The v6 sho was all yamaha, except the tranny, which broke all the time (yamaha>ford)

Why do you continue to argue with me about this? The block was assembled by Ford in Windsor, Ont. The blocks were then shipped to Japan to have the motors built and completed by Yamaha, then the completed motors were shipped to Atlanta to be put in the SHOs. As stated earlier the new 4.4L version is now being used in the Volvo XC90 and is still built by Yamaha in Japan. http://www.answers.com/topic/ford-yamaha-v8-engine

Does seem stupid, yamaha must have some "top secret" engine secrets and they must have suckered ford into paying for them.

I liked the v8 in the ford focus better and made it rear wheel drive, I cant believe that they accually sell a kit to do it to.
