That wreck is from the 1998 (?) Champ Car race at Fontana California. THe driver is Greg Moore, the defending champion at the time. He spun coming out of turn two after right-rear suspension failure. THe impact killed him. If you watch this video in slow-motion (maybe not this camera angle) you can see that his head hits directly against that concrete barrier when he struck the wall. He was pronounced dead on the scene of the crash. It was a pretty sad day for American open-wheel racing. I beleive he was only 23 or 24....

Goddamnit. That's horrible. God rest his soul.
