What is your gasoline mileage in your Chevy Blazers? City /HighwayLS19962DRBLAZER4X4 09-04-2005, 07:14 PM I owned my 1996 Chevy Blazer LS 4x4 since 1996. It had problems in the beginning breaking in the bugs. I know have 89000 miles on it and its starting to eat gas more. It has clean (platinum) plugs air cleaner filter. Brand New Fuel Filter New Brakes New Shocks and Struts. I used to get 400 on a tank now its more like 350..Highway miles City is Terrible.. I tried everything except the gadgets they sell on TV and I was told to steer away from them. When I purchased my Blazer LS Off Road I took it off roading one weekend and that was a mistake they had to replace all four shocks and struts including the calipers. The inside fell apart and the clips all broke. Warranty Replaced Everything.. I never did it again and its been over 9 yearssince that happened. Just wanted to know if anyone gets better gas mileage using regular $3.15 cents a gallon gasoline :screwy: muzzy1maniac 09-04-2005, 07:43 PM What do you mean by regular gas?? I don't know for sure about pre-98 models but I thought they all used shocks only - no struts. As for the mileage, this was just recently posted and should be very easy to find. Take a look and add you specifics to the list. Oh and welcome to the board! Jeremy Fitch 09-04-2005, 07:50 PM I've got a 96 4 Door and get about 300-350 miles a tank. It does not have any struts though, just shocks all around. paulson 09-04-2005, 08:17 PM I get about 300 - 325 miles on about 14.5 gallons of gas (usually 1/4th of a tank left) XPC2004 09-04-2005, 08:20 PM I've got a 96 4 Door and get about 300-350 miles a tank. Shouldn't make a difference unless you don't change your air filter more often. Jeremy Fitch 09-04-2005, 10:03 PM Shouldn't make a difference unless you don't change your air filter more often. Makes a good difference when you are sitting waiting at call points on one lane haul roads waiting for the trucks to pass and such. I guess anytime your idling you getting 0 mpg. I do change my air filter about every 2 months. Also using 4 wheel a lot on steep hills when it rains a lot does not help much either, but I guess its all part of the job. But I am getting 16-19 mpg with the driving I do so I really don't think its all that bad. I did noticed that when I switch to the Mobile 1 synthetic oil my mpg increased a good deal. BlazerLT 09-05-2005, 02:11 AM Yea, you should see a good difference. Just keep that air filter changed and your air intake assembly screwed in tightly together. LS19962DRBLAZER4X4 09-05-2005, 11:28 AM I have a 19 Gallon Tank 2 Gallon Reserve LS 1996 4.3 Vortex 190HP I use Regular Gasoline Only. I had 4 Bilstein Shocks 2 Struts in the back RR for the Offroad Suspension Package The ZR2 came out in 1997 My vehicle was the pre ZR2. 100 where made in 1996 in Linden Factory NJ ( Closed and Abandoned by General Motors Inc. Detroit MI.) I have 4 Goodyear Wranglers OWL P235R15 (2nd pairs) replaced in 2002 . They never reached the 60000 mileage period. My Truck was made in late November 1995 during the 1st Shift. I purchased it on 1/7/96 I traded my 1983 Oldsmobile Tornado 2Dr with 210000 miles. (I know that I will never see 200000 thousand miles on this truck) My question was curious, since I see more people purchasing TrailBlazers and Avalanches... :2cents: BlazerBoyLT98 09-06-2005, 12:30 AM Read this.... http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=453370 I average 21 overall between city and highway.
