I just replaced my 02 LT P245-70R16 with Toyo Open Trail A/T, and it is much smoother! The stocks had 52,500mi on them, and they were pretty treadless. Cost me about $590 for tires, balancing, installing.

We just replaced the terrible BF Goodrich stock tires with Toyo Open Country HT's (new this year). These are a highway version of the AT that ScarabEpic posted about. We've put on about 15,000 KM's (yes, we're in Canada) and they have been great. Ride and traction improved tremendously. very little road noise. Looking forward to seeing how they handle a bit of snow.

I had real problems finding options in the LTZ size of 245/65/17. I paid C$800 (all-in) for the set of 4. I think that would have been about US$650

Yea, they really help with the hwy smoothness, and I really noticed they are smoother going over small bumps here in Seattle.

Are you guys getting tires in the stock size or are you going a little larger in size? Will the rims accept slightly larger tires?

Yea, I think I have heard of people going with P275/70(65)R16, with a suspension lift. I bought the stock size, as I wouldnt lift my TB, I would lower it. Dont know what the largest size with no mods is, but check this thread out: http://forums.trailvoy.com/showthread.php?t=1687

Just bought new tires. Went slightly larger - 255-65-17.
Bought Bridgestone Dueler AT REVO tires. Awesome tire!! A bit pricey though. Bridgestone is running a $75 rebate until October 15.

Nice tires!! Those were the ones I wanted, but they were backordered 2 weeks, and I needed them installed the next day for a trip.

So: lizplusthree::::::
You went with a slightly larger tire width on the same stock 17 LTZ rims-- that's what I'm thinking down the road:
They fit OK, look good (I'm sure they look better with more width)?
What was the approx. cost for 4? Thanks!!

Rizzness,

The tires fit fine and look great. The overall tire height is 0.250" taller now, and according to Tire Rack and Chevy, the speedo should not be effected.
The cost for 4 tires mounted and balanced at discount tire was about $800. I am expecting a $75 rebate also so total about $725.
