Howdy, used to shoot acrylic enamels about 25 years ago. No recent experience. I have a hot rod that I'd like to shoot a "Rat" look using a mix of primer blalck and Red Oxide. My question is, can you use clear coat over those colors/finishes? Secondly, If I do what I'm thinking about and I get tired of it after a year or two, is there any reason that one cannot paint over clear coat (Properly cleaned and prepped of course)

Thanks,

Berk

Hi, I have use primer on many cars as a finish coat. The best way i found many years ago was to mix 3 pints of Black [dark Grey] primer with 1 pint of lacquer paint. The end result is a black satin finish. If you need a rust stopper try POR-15 Rust Preventive Paint. You can mix any lacquer with lacquer primer. I have tried a few colors. The only 2 I liked are Black and Red. To get the red I had to use a very dark maroon paint. Red and light Grey primer made pink. My wife loved it, I told her she could paint her bathroom with it, period, LOL. Have a Good One BILL
