View Full Version : Please Need Advice...WRX OR SUPRA?? Please Need Advice...WRX OR SUPRA?? tannee 05-08-2002, 10:37 AM Im from Sydney Australia, and im looking at spending around 35000 on a car... My choice...a second hand MY2001 WRX...or a 94 Twin Turbo Supra. Now...upsides of WRX: Quite new, turbo, blah blah blah Downside: UGLY Upsides of Supra... Upside: GOOD LOOKING, Twin Turbo, blah blah blah Downside: Quite Old...dents... Suggestions??? Thanks for the input...much appreciated. :D auswrx 05-08-2002, 10:55 AM ......or a Nissan R32 GT-R, i believe they are around the $35 000 mark now here in aus. But remember, one is an import(or 2 if your considering the GT-R as well) and one isn't. So when you want to get the car serviced, find parts for an import it takes longer and can add up. BUT! it's not as bad as it was a few years ago. tannee 05-08-2002, 11:08 AM Originally posted by auswrx ......or a Nissan R32 GT-R, i believe they are around the $35 000 mark now here in aus. Super Spec V 05-08-2002, 11:11 AM eventhought the supra is a nice/fast car, i would still go for the scooby. newer, and awd, therfore you can have much more fun in all weather conditions. plus the scooby is very capable of going very fast. in the end it's your choice. tannee 05-08-2002, 11:15 AM Originally posted by Super Spec V eventhought the supra is a nice/fast car, i would still go for the scooby. newer, and awd, therfore you can have much more fun in all weather conditions. plus the scooby is very capable of going very fast. in the end it's your choice. ahhh...not making it easier...hehehe... thanks for the input.. auswrx 05-08-2002, 11:16 AM A bit more info on what your going to do with the car would be nice:) . Eg, just a daily driver, or racing, modifications down the road etc. tannee 05-08-2002, 11:24 AM i say basics...not extremes like my current car... i say system, rims, lower, exhaust, some body work...maybe NOS... im leaning towards supra coz less common too auswrx 05-08-2002, 11:31 AM NOS, in aus? wouldn't be advisable especially if your not going to do anything major to the car. Cops see it and your in trouble. If that's what your going to do with the car, then the wrx will be fine. But doing anything major requires a bit, eg: gearbox will have to be changed, etc. The wrx is more user friendly on our roads. AWD is a big + tannee 05-08-2002, 11:39 AM Im concerned about performance...but more on looks...so thats why choice quite hard. Hazard666 05-08-2002, 11:58 AM supra all the way Buzzr 05-09-2002, 02:00 AM get wrx man :o sn00pie_2002 05-12-2002, 01:57 PM I'd get the Supra. Gonthrax 05-13-2002, 12:29 AM I'd recommend reconsidering with an R32 GTR in the equation. Yes they are older, but very reliable. I know several people with R32s (GTRs and GTSs and they have never complained about any age related problems) Plusses of the GTR over the Supra and WRX are numerous, IMHO :D. The GTR has ATTESSA AWD, a very very good AWD system. HICAS four wheel steering, RB26DETT one of the most respected engines of japan. Lets see what else, .9gs on the skidpad, wonderful responce to mods... You get the picture :) Between the WRX and the Supra, personaly I'd take the Supra. But if boils down to what you want out of the car. GT30Girl 05-13-2002, 04:11 AM From what you said you're planning to do with your chioce, I'd go the Supra. I'd assume every man and his dog owns a WRX in Sydney - plus Supra's look fatter in mildly externally modded form. Supra, Supra :) LjasonL 05-13-2002, 04:35 AM id like to be a loyal subaru owner and tell u to get the wrx, but honestly, if i was in your position, id get the supra. as long as its in good shape that is. tannee 05-13-2002, 05:50 AM I think Supra wins...thanks for the input... but had a talk with my mum...and it seems logical to get the wrx. I mean, insurance, its newer...but sat in a supra the other day...DAMN I WAS LIKE...THATS IT...SUPRA! but gotta be practical...and logical.... agree? Super Spec V 05-13-2002, 09:27 AM PRACTICAL AND LOGICAL IS GOOD THINKING. BUT...... you can have just as much fun, an if not more with the REX. Trust me. Once you go AWD you never turn back. My 2 cents. Impreza555 05-13-2002, 10:49 AM Remember, Both cars were made for two entirely differen't types of driving. If your planing on autoXing and having fun in the twisties. WRX is the way to go (course it can also be a beast on the street as well). Supra would be just to demolish people on the highway, but it will still take close to 10K in mods to make it a beast. Either way, I'd be happy. Its kind of a win win situation with both cars. Related Links Participate in thousands of discussions at AutomotiveForums.com! Registration is absolutely free. |
