91 caprice for saledirectory 09-01-2005, 11:59 AM i hope i'm not stepping on any feet in this forum, as i don't know the policy for posting sale items. let me know--i will remove if needed i have a 1991 chevy caprice for sale. white with blue interior (paint ok/interior fair) police package (9c1 i believe ???) 350 efi 178,000 original miles/76,xxx miles on a refreshed engine. hoses, belts, head/ intake gaskets replaced and are still good. new battery. set of new tires (1 year old), exhaust is about 2 years old. the piston/ rings and seals (i was told) were done at 100,000 miles--before i bought the car former state police car and still has some goodies in it (no lights though). runs great, needs some minor work like new brakes and maybe a tune-up. i wanted to take the engine out and put it in my firebird convertable--but found new toys to play with. this is why a lot of work has all ready been done to the engine in prep for this. if you live in the springfield, illinois area and are interested, for more info send me an email: send.spam.here@insightbb.com i know--but its a real email that i use only for signing up on websites. like i said, let me know if i need to remove this--i don't want to be in violation of any policies. --B directory 09-01-2005, 01:46 PM by the way $2000 or best offer --B 1986Z28 09-02-2005, 08:40 AM to start, police package is 9c1, second, caprices didnt get the lt1 in some till 94, and they never had a ls1, unless you did a motor swap, if you did and it really has a lt1, I WANT IT. if nnot post a pic of you SPID, and i can teel you what is has directory 09-02-2005, 05:04 PM it looks like the engine in this photo: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/218312/2 or http://www.cardomain.com/ride/576099/3 or http://www.cardomain.com/ride/799233 --B HLandin 09-02-2005, 06:38 PM I would have to agree with blownalcoholboy. From those pictures, it is an L05, just slightly modified from the one in my 1990 Caprice. The only change from my 1990 is the air intake and the fact the engine block is painted. Caprice did not get LT1 until 1994 (with exception of 1993 Caprice LTZ), and it never had the LS-1. directory 09-02-2005, 07:21 PM ok i guess it's not an lt/ls. that's fine. i didn't know for sure, it's still for sale though. it is 5.7 350 efi engine. not sure of the engine code. what info could i give that would help establish this? --B HLandin 09-03-2005, 05:36 PM Two places will help with this identification. First, your VIN number. The eight character of your VIN number should be the engine code. For example, a 7 would be the L05 350-cid; a E would be the L03 305-cid; a P would be the LT1 350-cid; etc. Second, your Service Parts Identfication (SPID) Label found on the bottom of your trunk. It will have a series of codes for the various Regular Production Options (RPO) and Special Equipment Options (SEO) your caprice came with. If you see 9c1, that means it was built from the factory as a police car. If you see L05, than it is the L05 350-cid. However, these options only tell what your vehicle came from the factory with. If any modifications were made later, they would not be found on either. Hope this helps. directory 09-04-2005, 11:00 PM ok, then the engine is a L05 350 to my knowledge no aftermarket parts were put on the engine. just new seals and gaskets and piston rings, etc. i had those done after i bought the car with the assumption that: 1. it needed it, 2. that i was going to pull the engine out and swap it into my v6 firebird. (which now isn't going to happen) directory 09-16-2005, 04:06 PM still for sale... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2010, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
