97 rodeo 4 cyc. overheated and needed a new thermostat and ever since there is a almost like a air leak tick sound until it gets hot and then dissapeared. Also my temp gauge sometimes goes up a little from the bottom and other times it stays all the way to the bottom, like it is not working.

from ready the posts on here, it sounds like it may be a head gasket issue. do a search and see if there are other posts about this, i believe it has been covered before.
