Just Plain Stupid!!!ssoratokad 08-28-2005, 09:39 PM THE DUMBEST THING THAT I HAVE EVER DONE TO MY CAR IS CUTTING MY A/C BELT. I DIDNT THINK OF THE CONSEQUENCES, WHAT A SACRIFICE FOR A COUPLE HORSES. #1 my a/c doesnt work. #2 my gas mileage got cut in half, im only getting 213 to a tank. and #3 sometimes my mph gauge wont work and i have to hit my dash and itll jump up, like it was asleep and i had to wake it up. When i first did back in april i thought it was so cool, then when my mph gauge wouldnt work i thought that was funny until it started to happen more frequently. I got an a/c belt and i just gotta figure out how to put it on. its wierd cause it goes under the motor mount. If any can help it would be greatly appreciated. What was the most idiotic thing you guys have done to your car, and please tell me that im not in this boat bymyself. iVteC_PoWeR 08-28-2005, 09:46 PM if you wanted the a/c out why didn't you take it out PROPERLY? Well if you dont know much and dont want to mess it up anymore I would recommend taking it to a shop. And as for me I have never done anything that bad. ssoratokad 08-28-2005, 09:49 PM haha, i thought so, well see i started to take off one of the pulleys and then i just got really impatient(which you should not do) and i went and cut the belt. iVteC_PoWeR 08-28-2005, 09:52 PM o really i see...mechanics is something you shouldnt get impatient with...things take time and when you try to take shortcuts it ends up costing a lot more than if you did it right the first time... ssoratokad 08-28-2005, 10:02 PM true true, so your saying that youve never done anyting to your honda that you didnt regret? ZedEx 08-28-2005, 11:27 PM You mean other than BUYING IT? Well, I have no idea why your gas Mileage would get cut in half. Typically your engine has to increase RPM to accomidate for the Parasetic Drag that the Air Conditioning Compressor requires to properly function. If anything, your Gas Mileage should have improved. I cut my AC Belt, becasue my Compressor went bad. I couldn't stand the squeeking anymore. I noticed no affect on my car at all. I can't wait to have AC again... God it's so hot. -Wes CivicSpoon 08-28-2005, 11:48 PM Yeah, that doesn't sound right. And I don't see how it would effect your gauge cluster either. Maybe it's your gauge cluster that is going bad, that might also explain why you seem to be getting less gas mileage (faulty reading). superbluecivicsi 08-29-2005, 04:00 AM THE DUMBEST THING THAT I HAVE EVER DONE TO MY CAR IS CUTTING MY A/C BELT. What was the most idiotic thing you guys have done to your car, and please tell me that im not in this boat bymyself. your ac belt will not cause all these problems. as far as putting the ac belt back on. remove ps bracket bolts. remove ps belt. lossen ac tensioner and holding bolt. take off lower ds mount bolts. remove old belt. put in new. tighten all belts to 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch deflection. installation is of reversal. ssoratokad 08-29-2005, 06:52 AM You mean other than BUYING IT? Well, I have no idea why your gas Mileage would get cut in half. Im not going to take any chances, its goin to the shop. ZedEx 08-29-2005, 09:53 AM Yes... I was being sarcastic. -Wes ssoratokad 08-29-2005, 10:09 PM isnt the reason why my mph gauge messes up is because my alternator is lagging? superbluecivicsi 08-30-2005, 01:47 AM isnt the reason why my mph gauge messes up is because my alternator is lagging? no. if your alternator is not operating correctly, you will have more problems than just a gauge problem. QUICK_EG_B16A 08-30-2005, 01:56 AM Are you sure you only cut the a/c belt? :disappoin ZedEx 08-30-2005, 02:38 AM "Oh Damn... Now that I look at it, I cut ALL of the belts... How is my car running?!" -Wes karnovking 08-31-2005, 01:28 PM if it ain't broke, don't fix it!!! good words to live by.
