97 tracer transmission slipping

Hey, I just got a used 97 tracer and I love everything about the car but sometimes while im driving the car seems to not want to accellerate when im only at around 20 or 30 mph no matter how far the gas pedal is in, and then in a few seconds the car goes in neutral and rev's up for a second then jerks real hard back into gear. Sometimes it does it over and over and its REALLY annoying. Any comments or help is very greatly appreciated.
