I have a 1996 Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0 engine. Had a P0120 code so installed a new TPS. Chilton saya inscrew old one. Make sure tang slips inside sensor. tighten screws done no adjustment! Did that cleared code. Start car P0120 code. So I installed like a GM TPS QUATER TURN COUNTER CLOCK WISE TO ALIGN SCREWS TIGHTEN CLEARED CODE. Start car new code P0123 High voltage. Clear code re-install as per manual. P0121 low voltage uuuggghhhhhh. Am I missing something in the install? Driving me crazy! HEEEEEEEELLLLLPPPPPP!

Download as suggested. However the 96 jeep 4.0 doesn't have oblong screw holes so you cannot rotate to adjust. I know on a GM you catch the throttle plate shaft to just catch the sensor. Then you rotate it counter clock wise until the holes line up. Chilton doesn't mention anything about this for the Jeep though.

There is no adjustment on the newer XJ tps sensors. Earlier model only. Did you try disonnecting battery ground cable after installing sensor, to clear code. I disconect ground when changing any of engine sensors. Dale :smokin: :grinno:

Yes but code came right back. I read else where that if car battry was dead. PCM cannot read new range of the tps. The battery was dead. Is this true? charging battery now. (out of vehicle) I then was told once reconnected battery must be attached for 15 min before starting so PCM can re-learn is this true? Also I have an obdII scanner with erase feature. I tried erasing via scan tool. error came back. disconnected - bat terminal trick. same error came back.
