TUTORIAL - shading a car in photoshop.

Okay, someone asked for this so i made it.

1. start with the original picture.

2. Go to LAYERS - Duplicate Layer and click ok.

3. press Ctrl + shift + U, the colour should go black and white.

4. Go to LAYERS - Duplicate Layer and click ok.

5. press Ctrl + I.

6. at the moment the car will be in negative form.

7. go to the layers panel and change the layer from normal to colour dodge.

8.YOUR PICTURE WILL DISSAPEAR, BUT dont worry, go to FILTER - blur - gaussian blur.

9. slide the point left(for less detail) or right (for more detail)


DO NOT GO TOO FAR RIGHT BECAUSE IT WILL BEGIN TO LOOK LIKE A PICTURE AGAIN.

The part where he says move the slider, that's where you determine what kind of shading you want....

after seeing the results I think the thread title is mis labeled. You're not really "shading" so much as creating a visual effect by manipulating a photo.

I think that's what the other dude is waitin on.

Regardless the effect looks cool so....

also use the burn tool to get more shading in 1 area than another
