D16y7 turbo install HELP!!civicrunner07 08-23-2005, 10:38 PM I recently purchased a turbo kit from ssautochrome for my 97 civic. I am having one of my friends who is a long time motor head and has installed many turbo's before this one help me install it. However, we have ran into a few problems with the manifold not clearing the ac (they said its supposed too) and have a few questions about the oil line kit. I was hoping someone on this forum has installed if not this exact kit, one similar to it, to give us step by step instructions for installation with this kit, and/or detailed pictures of a d16 turbo install. (note: I will not be running an intercooler) thanks alphalanos 08-23-2005, 10:42 PM well your first mistake was buying an SSAutochrome turbo kit. If you cant get it to fit around the AC ( i assume the downpipe?) modify it to make it fit or get rid of your AC. It will probably free up a few HP. Uhhhh oh yeah. GET AN INTERCOOLER!!! You def. need it. If you bought a turbo kit i assume you know why its a good idea. If you havent already make sure you have at least 450cc injectors or better, and that you engine is in good shape(compression and stuff) Oil change, filters etc.The installation is pretty simple. If you dont already have a Y8 intake manifold or aftermarket one, i suggest you get one, its just better oops manifold. yeah you prob need to lose the AC or find a new mani.. oh if you want some good pics of turbo install go to turbonetics website and download the PDF lkailburn 08-24-2005, 08:50 AM ^ good advice honda_racing101 08-24-2005, 09:00 PM Damn SSautochrome and their too good to be true deals.
