I just don't like it when they act like they know about cars because I guess standing in front of them (blocking the view) somehow makes them knowledgeable. I still haven't met a single one that I have respect for.
Like when I was at HIN a few weekends ago, there were these models that all started dancing and stripping and stuff, and I looked at my best friend, and she just had this look of disgust on her face, and she was like, "why the fuck to they degrade themselves like that just for some fucking attention from guys they'll never see again" I mean, you're so right, ludegirl. yeah, i know, it's frustrating....i don't claim to know more about all guys about this scene and modifying a car, but i do know more than some guys, and i'm proud of it, especially since just this time last year, i knew ZERO. We have to fight for some respect in this scene, and import models don't make it any easier to get it. Last year at HIN in York, I was sitting with my boyfriend's hatch, and these guys came by who were taking pictures HIN i think or something....anyway, they asked me to pose with my boyfriend's car!!! i'm like, "uh, noooooo, i'm not an import hoochie, oops, i mean an import model."

on a side note, and not really related to import models, but funny nonetheless, this guy came into my boyfriend's shop the other day all psyched about this Greddy turbo kit he ordered that's coming in....he acted like such a big shot because he used to be a mechanic for an Acura dealership....anyway, so I told him that we had a Blitz turbo timer in stock that we could hook him up with, and he didn't even know what it was for or why he'd need it!!! funny funny...hee hee

The models are nice and all (eye candy and such) but personally, they distract WAY too much from the cars. That's why it's called a car show, not a hood-rat show! :p I mean I go to see the cars, not the girls drapped all over them, they aren't the ones getting the trophies, so get outta there! I totally agree, I mean for me, I learned a lot of what I know from everyone here (mostly the ones from PH). I mean my cousin tought a me a little bit that convinced me enough to get an import, then once my sis got her '95 Civic way back, I started getting into Hondas, and trying to figure out what I wanted to get for my ride when I was to get one. It's like a giant toy to me, my car. But as I go along, I learn more and more about it, and I pass on what I know to other people as I learn it, and it's a good feeling being able to pass on what I know. :)

What's funnier, is the shows I've thus far been in (hot rod shows with tuner/import class's in them) the hot rodder guys that know like everything about their cars, it's like they know nothing when it comes to a car such as mine. They will ask me if my car runs on nitrous and what not. Some of those guys can't even believe a car like ours can crank out over 400hp in many cases. :D It's cool even being able to teach guys like that a thing or two. ;)

I was in Myrtle Beach this past weekend. There was this girl driving this totally tricked out civic. Identical to my car, but she had more interior mods and a better system. Unfortunately my car was at home... Well this girl had a killer sticker on her front window. It was actually more of a website promo than anything. But it was www.notmyboyfriends.com I want that sticker....

as some already said most of the time the girls are the OWNERS they usualy just sit there and let the guys do all the work.. i mean its ok to let them do stuff but if u dont know anything about cars then ur not really a car chick i know i go to local shops and out talk the guys cuz i know hondas like the back of my hand..sure ill let them change a tire if they want but i can almost any thing they can maybe more if i had a little more muscle:).... so for all the girl car OWNERS dont think everyone else doesnt notice that you have no clue...

I have to agree with you there.... Most of the severely riced and heavily modded body cars around here have girls behind the wheel.... and Im the first to shake my head and give a thumbs down when they rev their little civic DX at me.....


I've met a few chicks around here thru my SE-R club, they might not know everything(but niether do i) but we can sit down, talk about the differences between her EK SI and my B14 SE-R....sanely.....not screaming about how 'Honda r00ls and can beat anything out there' etc and so forth

I'm new here, and it's SO GOOD to see girls who are actually interested and educated about cars. It's just annoying to see girls who cling to their boyfriends thinking that they are 'in' cause they get to be a passenger in a hot car.

There's no need for those girls! and it's good to see that there are some out there trying to make a difference!! haha.

Well, I only got it on monday!!!! so i'm still on the high to finally have one i can call my own and play with.
It was my mission to get one for summer and i did, and now i'm this is my summer to do it up. so all i've had done to it yet was 35% tint all around and clear altezza tail lights. I'm not sure what else i'm going to doing yet... other than a spoiler and rims which are coming in the next few weeks. I'll post pics once i get my digi cam back from my bro!

well it's not clear altezza's ... and i'm not sure if they have a special name!! but they are the same red dots but instead of clear around them it's silver. it's pretty hot, when i get my camera back i'll post a pic and then tell me what you like better. ok!?

no shit. i have yet to meet a girl around here with some decent knowledge. but what really sucks is the fact that my boy works for a shop...and even though i helped him with the engine swap and even though i'm getting ready to do an engine setup/build up by myself whenever we go out i get absolutely no respect. it's like i'm just the chic who's supposed to cling to his arm...but it's never him that's the issue, he gives me all the credit i deserve, but everyone else, if i have an opinion or maybe know a little bit more on a subject then him, they don't listen to a word that comes out of my mouth. it's just sucks that what it comes down to now is having to go all out and prove yourself 150% to get the respect you deserve. the only time i've ever gotten any respect is when i ran at the track to get some base figures before i redo the whole engine bay (hehe). and i was 1 of 2 girls that ran that day. damn did it feel good. :)

My 70 Nova was originally my moms. She loves it, she used to go street racing.

Guys wouldnt race her, so she started dressing like a guy, and putting her hair up under a baseball cap. And running dudes. When she won she'd take off her hat and the doodes face would be all :eek: as she slowly pulled away in her car. She used to take me out street racing when I was.. 7. Fun times... Now I take her out racing every once in a while.

I admit that I probably don't treat most other girls in cars with the respect I should. Thing is, they usually are toting their b/f around when I see them, and thus pretty much conclude that they aren't doing anything themselves. We had two girls that came to the show with us and brought a 5thgen civic. I coulden't leave them alone b/c there was always some guy with a camera coming up to one of them telling them to show there tits. It really pissed me off, this show was like marti graw right b/f the burnout comp on saturday, and then after the BC another girl at the show got mobbed. WTF!?!?

Yeah, they f*cking cancelled it for future years b/c people this year acted like a bunch of fuckers. It's crap. I think it's cool for ladies to mod thier cars. Ever since I was 16, I loved to work out in my car (My first car was a 96 4runner, I had it looking like a sweet pimp ride, lol) even now I still enjoy working out in my cars, I do almost everything to them myself.

True, there are females out there who think they know stuff about cars, or even model and don't know shit, but there's a good number who know about their car, fix thier car, and even race (even models).
It does sadden me that some models (I'm not hating, I swear) just stand infront of some car half naked on covers, but I guess it's their job... and also that people judge women so quickly when it comes to cars. I used to teach high school students, and the guys would have conversations about cars, and would be shocked when I joined in on a convo. Some guys do think it's a turn on when ladies know about cars, I know my man does :biggrin:

'How's your girlfriend'or 'What is a chick like you doing driving a car like that', so I just straight up tell them, no it's my car..I'm not a dyke bitch... or just fuck off. I went to Autozone one time for one of those free engine light checks (I just wanted to see what it was all about) the guy working there was a total asshole because I was a "girl" who didn't know anything about cars and I should let a "man" fix the problem (I was sooo pissed off, let me tell you! ended up being something with the fuel sensor, he couldn't tell me how to fix it, lol I actually fixed it right there...I just tightened the gas cap:wink:) It's a shame how some guys (not all) treat women when it comes to cars....

So I know guys like "grl & cars" but If grls wnt to model do it somewhere else besides the car mags. Cause the only reson why they say "I love cars" [sighk] they only like "Cars" is because ether there boyfriend has a car or sence thry model in front of cars means they know how to handle the car. to answer a question so that this post isnt completely useless:
the lower model civics (DX, LX, etc) put out just around 100HP, the EXs usually put out ~30 more, while using the same engine as the lower class models, and the Si's put out 30 more than the EXs, using different(better) engines. If you have a choice, get the Si.

I think the deeper issue here is that men like women who are good at something besides looking good. That's why you get so many men flooding in here saying the same old 'i like girls who know cars' garbage.

i'm no psychologist, so I don't know...I just think it goes back to that time when we were all kids, and we all played with the same toys...somewhere along the lines, looking good/being social became more important to women, and guys got into cars, bikes, sports, etc. Not that either is better, or worse than the other, but guys tend to be impressed with the girls who got into the 'guy' things; just as you would be impressed by someone who understood your (feminine) interests.

I'm sure many of you will think that I'm just being sexist, but I assure you that I view all of these things as equals. If i leave out some other (stereotypically) female interests, it is only because I am unfamiliar with them.

I truly do not mean to offend any of you women, but I'm sure I will with this:
I would rather have an ugly girlfriend, who could really teach me something, about something valuable/interesting (doesn'thave to be cars), than have a good looking girlfriend, whos only interests (interests being things you are good at doing, not just things that you consider fun) were 'hanging out', going out, talking to her friends, and looking good.

Fuck going to the gym, keep that extra 25lbs, and read a book (fiction doesnt count)! i.e. a car manual...
