ok..00 honda s2000 or 05 acura rsx type s..NerveAgent 08-19-2005, 02:10 PM This is the situation. My brother has a 2000 Honda s2000 with 18" Work Wheels. He is going to buy a new car in december. Im also in the market to buy a new car in december. I was planning on getting probably a Acura RSX type S or a 05 WRX. Something around the lines of 25 more or less. My brother knows this and told me if i wanted his car. He said he just has 3 years left to pay. 450 a month x 3 years its 16200. For the wheels he told me he'll sell it to me for 1500, when in the beginning of the year he bought the rims for 3000. Now here comes the problem, my brother learned how to drive stick in this car..And he's not the best driver around..I drove it the other day and it seemed fine. But then again..I dunno its used and it had a bad driver. Should i still get it? Or should i opt for a new car? This car is probably be my daily, but i do have another car.(civic) So i won't really be missing the space. But then again he does get it maintaned pretty well, he doesn't go cheap on anything..The car has about..60k on it. Maybe i should tell him to take it for service before i get it? Any sugesstions.. Thanks. BLU CIVIC 08-19-2005, 02:13 PM you spoke of a convertible, sports coupe, and an awd turbo 4-dr... what do you want? NerveAgent 08-19-2005, 02:15 PM Something other than my civic? Something around 25000. Well not anything. Only what i stated. BLU CIVIC 08-19-2005, 02:24 PM go with a used STi or EVO VAD0R 08-19-2005, 03:07 PM go with a used STi or EVO Those usually come pretty beat up when sold used. However, I know this might sound wierd but I would say to get the new 2006 WRX which currently hit dealer lots. Sure the face might not be the pretiest but with a (what they claim is 235hp, but is probably more) turbocharged STi sized 2.5l and 230lb of torque, which is quite a bit more than the 217lbs of previous models. Heres a pick of a red one, which I think is a good color for the newer one. http://www.mattdell.com/gallery/albums/impreza2006/caranddriver50th04.jpg http://www.mattdell.com/gallery/albums/impreza2006/caranddriver50th14.jpg Look on the brite side if you don't like the new grill so much you can perhaps talk down the dealer price based on what an ugly mug it has. BLU CIVIC 08-19-2005, 03:11 PM front end looks like a Peugeot...but if it were me i'd opt for the WRX...but i don't know what your into...but the best of both worlds would be the RSX...2 door like the S2000 and has rear seats like the WRX... Zachp911 08-19-2005, 03:20 PM Do you want RWD, FWD or AWD? Are you gonna be modifying the car w/ performance parts? Are you more concerned about Speed or Handling? Give us more details in what you want in a car, then it will be easier to give opinions. NerveAgent 08-19-2005, 03:52 PM Im going to keep it mostly stock. No serious mods. @ the most maybe bolts-ons. Im looking for a good deal that will be reliable, fun to drive. Im not making a race car here. I don't really mind if its awd, rwd, or fwd in these cars because i've drove all of them and they are considerably "fun" to drive..At least for me. The s2000 out handle them all but they still are all fun to drive. Zachp911 08-19-2005, 04:06 PM Im going to keep it mostly stock. No serious mods. @ the most maybe bolts-ons. You get the best of both worlds (speed & handling), and nothing beats a 240hp VTEC engine. :grinyes: I would bring the car to a mechanic and have it checked out before you buy it to make sure everything is working properly. Maintain the car regularly and you wont have any problems. Plus, theres nothing like Honda reliability... CanucksRT 08-19-2005, 04:10 PM Get the S2000, don't buy new, cars depreciate something like 30% in the first year, just get the S2000, and be glad you saved the money, and got a pretty damn good upgrade over a Civic. Chicks also dig convertibles over 4 dr sedans, I know it's an STi, but how many chicks know what that is? NerveAgent 08-19-2005, 09:48 PM true s2000 it is. drunken monkey 08-19-2005, 11:30 PM the S2000 come on 17 inch wheels as standard, ask for them back...... Zachp911 08-20-2005, 12:19 AM the S2000 come on 17 inch wheels as standard, ask for them back...... Yeah I was gonna say... 18's on an S2K?!? I rather have the stock rims instead if I were you. :screwy: kman10587 08-20-2005, 01:27 AM I've been reading up on NASIOC lately, and though I have mixed opinions on the '06 WRX, I would generally recommend it whole-heartedly and I think that it's an overall improvement over the old model. - The styling is love-it-or-hate-it. Though I like the '04-'05 styling best, I don't think the new styling is all that bad. - The new 2.5L engine is actually much closer to the one from the Forester XT than the one from the STi. 230 hp and 235 ft-lb are the correct figures. - At last, the '06 WRX will come standard with 17-in. rims and upgraded brakes (presumably, both from the JDM/EDM WRX). I'm not sure what the new stock tires will be, but hopefully they won't still be Potenza RE92s (at least make summer tires optional, please). - Probably the most controversial change to the '06 WRX is that it has much longer gearing than the previous model (it's geared for about 190 mph). It's bad enough that the heavier Forester XT with the same motor will outrun it, due to the gearing. However, it'll be a much better highway cruiser, and fuel economy is also improved. - The purely bad news: the car gained about $1,000 in price and 100 lbs in weight. As was said, though, you're comparing three different cars here: a sports sedan, a sports coupe, and a sports car. The WRX will not feel as razor-sharp (and may not even perform as well, if they stick with all-season tires) as the other two cars. However, it's more practical, more comfortable, and easier to drive, and you won't have to worry nearly as much about reliability as you will with a used S2000. NISSANSPDR 08-20-2005, 04:38 AM The S2k would be my choice...it's hawtness! NerveAgent 08-20-2005, 06:20 AM if anyone was wondering this is what the s2000 looks like with the wheels. oh with that side skirt. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a111/xjosephko/photo_meisters2r_large_02.jpg drunken monkey 08-20-2005, 12:10 PM it's not what they look like, it's what they'll do to the car. a standard S2000 is skittish enough without sticking on bigger wheels with lower profile tyres and hence, stiffer sidewalls, adding to the already twitchy/snappy rear end. King Of Crunk 08-20-2005, 01:40 PM s2000.......redline at like 9k....yum NerveAgent 08-20-2005, 04:17 PM yeah myabe i should put the 16's back if i get it. Or maybe buy some 17's?..maybe even get some 05 wheels. CrzyMR2T 08-20-2005, 08:29 PM yeah myabe i should put the 16's back if i get it. Or maybe buy some 17's?..maybe even get some 05 wheels. i would definately get rid of those wheels, and get the 05 17 inch wheels. mason_RsX 08-21-2005, 07:47 AM - At last, the '06 WRX will come standard with 17-in. rims and upgraded brakes (presumably, both from the JDM/EDM WRX). I'm not sure what the new stock tires will be, but hopefully they won't still be Potenza RE92s (at least make summer tires optional, please). their getting rid of the Potenzas?? Thank God because those are awful all season tires... And I would really have to recommend an rsx over S2000...Simply because its all the short-throw-shifting, high revving fun of the S2 but it can actually seat 4 (on short trips), and can be very civilized and classy when needed. kman10587 08-21-2005, 03:46 PM I don't know if they are. I've got them on my 2.5 RS, and they are actually not bad for dry and wet performance, but I've heard that they are useless in the snow (wouldn't know, it doesn't snow in Vegas). If that's the case, they might as well just offer a summer tire, and I hope that they will on the new WRX. mason_RsX 08-22-2005, 05:00 PM Well I had a very poor winter experience with them...I really don't think I should need to have winter tires on an awd car in the winter, but I really did...I felt much more secure in the Protege running Dunlop SP sports than the legacy with the Potenzas Summer their capable, but I find they chirp very easily, make more noise than they should, and don't grip to the roadas well as they should...their not too bad in the rain, but rain doesnt really scare me vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
