coolant leak

I have a 1995 chevy 4.3. in the cab i have a very strong coolant smell and get a lot of heat. I am now leaking under the dash on the passengers side. any suggestions for correcting this will be appreciated

Sounds like your heater core needs to be replaced.

yeah thats definately your heater core, as you probably know, there is engine coolant going thru it and it is right up inside the firewall area so if it leaks it will leak inside probably

That is what I was thinking also, however, would that keep coolant from entering my block. It overheated for the first time on me the other day, when I put water in it, it was like my thermostat never opened, i never even got pressure in my top hose but radiator spilled over considerably. I am leaking in the cab. Any explanation would be helpful
