Where to get 3600 and 4000 grit sandpaper/cloth?

I've looked at any places that I thought I'd find 3600-4000 grit sandpaper and can't seem to find any. First I went to a craft store and the finest they had was only 440. Then I went to a sears hardware who got down to 1500 but that was it. I then headed over to Pep Boys who had 2000, but still no 3600 or 4000. Where do you guys get yours?

At the hobby shop. Detail master polishing clothes. You can buy them individually or in a polishing kit.

2000 grit wet/dry sandpaper is actually finer than the polishing cloths you seek. 2000 grit equivalent to 6000 micromesh polishing cloth

I know this sounds like a stupid and very obvious queston...but just want to make sure. In that case, my 2000 grit wet/dry paper will work fine?

yes and no. ive argued this point before.... yes 2000 grit wet/dry will work but... the reason Micro-mesh is so talked about is because the quality is very highly regulated. there manufacturing process is very tightly inspected, its very consistent. the reason is because its used in medical tool finishing. were as say 3M or other manufacturers are not as stringent on "exact" grit. ive used other brands with similar grit ratings but i always get some stray scratch or blem. just my opinion. :rolleyes:y
But Micro-mesh never leads to any odd factions unless used incorrectly. though i will say this... i only use the 6000 grit Micro-mesh after Tamiya 1500-2000. Followed by various compounds but i used to swear by the stuff.
