Just bought 99 Passat Wagon 3 Months ago. 64,000 mi. Lots of front end parts replaced drivers side front prior to purchase, alignment and all. Now there is a clunk seeming to come from front vibrating thru pedal. Intermittant when braking and accelerating. No wander or loose feeling in the wheel. Kind of perplexed by the whole thing. I have jacked it up and looked around all appears aok. I have taken it to our Mechanic twice and he has not found anything loose in the front end, but he heard the clunk. Just hoping someone might have an idea. Trip to dealer in my future? Any help greatly appreciated. Nwbie to this forum

Thanks

Check the engine mounts on the subframe on both sides where the lower portion of the mount (which is sort of a bolt) goes through the subframe. there is a small 10mm nut that should hold the mount to the subframe. It can be forgotten because its soo small.

THanks a bunch for the idea veedubmechanic. I had somebody who owned an Audi A4 suggest a "strut tower to me over the weekend. What do you think? I am definately going to look at the 10mm bolt thing too.
