Hey all,

I'm currently replacing the t-belt/waterpump on my 1999 Milly S; quite a job, I must say. I'm at the t-belt, but the diagrams from the manual do not match what I have in front on me....they say TDC, and the cam spockets should line up vertically, facing each other. On mine, they're both around 7 o'clock. Car ran fine when I took it apart...should I just follow the marks I made and be done with it?

Also, does anyone know the function of the 'seal plate'? I broke a bolt trying to tie it down...stupid me, grab the wrong bolt. Now I'm wondering if it's worth the time to drill it out. I think said item is used to isolate the block from the t-belt assembly and to provide a mating surface for the t-belt covers, but I'm not sure. Anyone?

Thanx,

FH

as long as you are confident about your custom marks then go with them. but if you are hesitant there SHOULD be a yellow mark on each cam sprocket that will line up with a notch on each valve cover. the crank sprocket will have a locator pin that will be placed in the 12oclock position. there will be a notch on the oil pump behind the sprocket and a "V" cut into one of the teeth on the pulley to let you know the marks are correct. this is a non-interference engine so if you do have the timing off you wont do any damage by mistiming it. the design of the engine already uses retarded intake cam timing. i wouldnt worry about the bolt you broke off, as long as it was just for the shield.
